    F-ing dickheads :grr:

I remember the first time I played GTA: SA...

Damn this game RULES SO MUCH! IT'S JUST AWESOME!, we gamers are so lucky that we can still enjoy a game without all this OTT PC crap.

    bugger :sigh:

I just want you guys to know... if I ever go on a killing rampage, I'm going to clean everything out of my room except some cross-stitch, celine dion/backstreet boys/n'sync CDs, and about 50 copies of legit, purchased windows XP. And I'll hang a sign around my neck that says "Bill and the RIAA made me do it."

$5 says they'll still blame Doom 3 (which I still haven't played, ironically enough).

And trust me, the first thing I'd do if I saw an alien is blow it's head off (unless he was one of those death-ray-toting ones who's death would result in the destruction of the planet lol).

I've gotta say... if people can't figure out the difference between a GAME and REAL LIFE they have some serious problems and should be in a padded room anyways. Don't screw the sane world as a result.

And ubermich, you haven't missed much by not playing doom3. But I'd agree, they'd still blame it. You better run a few DOD-wipes of your hard drive first just to make sure they don't find any residue of games that had something other than fluffy bunnies in it.

    Errmmm,

    :eyebrow:

I watched a "Robert Winston" programme on the good old BBC 1 to my surprise the conclusion

the kid who enjoyed playing Halo had developed significant spatial awareness, cooperative empathy and fast reflexes - and not a "zombie crazed violent, psychotic hyperactive attention deficit syndrome"
    :blah:

    Matt :)

Great, I hope there are more programmes like that one, but I fear that trashy newspapers & magazines will obviously lean towards the 'OMG!!11 my son played Halo and murdered his sister, his hamster, and my goldfish!!!11'

Or they will then realise that their child is no longer a child, his sister died of natural causes, and the hamster eat the goldfish and then drowned!

gaming bans take the p*** to be honest, why ban people from something that hasnt affected anyone (well... having said that, it affects gamers, as it keeps us happy!)

the fact that the people complaining are the people who have never been disciplined is what gets me, they say "violent games convince people to kill people, ive never killed in my life, thats because the reason ive never killed anyone is because ive never played games" no the reason they have never killed anyone is because they have never got their facts straight and learnt wtf to blame for real, instead of blaming the person who just raped and murdered their family, they blame games for making that person do it!

if these people ever thought for more than one second, maybe learnt to be parents, and disciplined their children just MAYBE they wouldnt have to blame others for their inequities!

rant over, just im fed up with people trying to ban gaming!

more PC crap from the country where you can sue for just about anything,
I've been playing violent videogames since before the days of regulation be it in the arcades(double dragon, streetfighter series etc; ) or on my pc (halo and all the other usual suspects), I dont go round killing people or stealing cars just because i can do it in a computer games,

when you let the government control everything you lose the power of free will and the freedoms that come with it

Maybe in the US that should be certified for over 16 only :D Don't want people finding out about the birds and the bees too young or you'll get sexual offenders or something.

Constitution / Censorship.... what's the difference anyhow?

(sorry about spelling tis late night, dam work and all it's sleepiness)

    <Bill Hicks>
Lets all play 'Lets lynch a scapegoat!" that'll show our kids how to behave...and they can grow up to be hypocritical b******s like us!

This runs in the same vein as those people who rant about paedophiles but don't stop to question the sexualisation of teens and children in the magazines and adverts that pervade our society :wallbash:

the people that blame the games one kid happened to play who blew away his classmates fail to realize that millions of copies of these games have been pressed, so why haven't there been millions of school shootings. maybe the kid that brought an uzi for show and tell was a little messed up to begin with.

but some music does make me violent, the backstreet boys' music makes me want to kill the backstreet boys.

Dude, here they show videos about how the whole thing works in MIDDLE SCHOOL (that's 6th-8th grade, ~12-14 years old)... Oddly enough, a recent study showed that more teens here were having sex than ever before...
Toss another one up to parental irresponsibility. (said because if parents would have the talk with their kids, the schools wouldn't have to do it and in so doing generalize the age that the talk is had for everyone in the state...)

I must admit that furbies engulf me in rage... I don't know why. I was never really exposed to them, but the few times I was I wanted them to come to life so I could strangle the life out of them and feed their carcass to the dogs...

come top think of it just about everyone on MTV makes me want to load my shotgun, except for the rare times that they actually play a video (<1% of the time) of an artist that has talent (<0.000000000057% of that)

all in all i think i've seen about a commercials worth of good music. :wallbash: we ought sue for false advertising, make them change their name to "Crap that has nothing to do with music TV"

Yeah! A fellow Bill Hicks fan! I was thinking about the routine where he says (paraphrasing): "They say that violent movies made those kids do those things. I've got something to tell y'all... I've done a little research. Surprising fact: There was violence before movies ever existed!" Then there's another rant he does about banning pornography (although the logic can be applied here just as effectively) (paraphrased again): "They've got it all mixed up. Pornography doesn't cause sexual thoughts. You see, these guys think that we have pornography, hence we have sexual thoughts. No, no, it's the other way around. We have sexual thoughts, hence we have Madonna videos."

Anyway, the problem here isn't the kids or the games, it's the parents as quite a few people have pointed out. Here's a way to fix it, courtesy of a female cartoonist whose name I am ashamed to admit I've forgotten:
    1. Introduce a temporary sterilising agent into the water supply.
    2. Interview all prospective parents.
    3. If they pass the test, give them the chemical that reverses the sterilisation.
    4. Repeat for two or three generations.

Only problem is that interferes with basic human rights. Just who administers that interview, anyway? Hopefully not the extreme right, OR the extreme left. Extreme anything is bad. I mean, just look at the sorts who indulge in extreme sports :p (j/k!)

    Nezuji :)

OHMYGOSH!!! ME TOO!!! WHAT A CO-INKYDINK!!!

Seriously, what is this gonna do? The people who are obsessed by these games will still play them anyway, but it makes it harder for those who just want to enjoy a good game. Not to mention it makes piracy more attractive.

Say, maybe if these people and the INDUCE people ever met they might explode in a horrible flash of pure pollitical correctness
