We've all seen the first part but check the second one ...

 

Regardless of whether or not I agree with the perspective taken in the video (I happen to know sh!t about the situation in Greece), that video - assuming it is amateur-made - is pretty good.

So who is the world indebted to?

 

People owe banks and other lenders ( card companies ) money.
The lenders owe money to other lenders.
The banks owe money to other banks.
Governments owe money to lenders and banks.

Everyone owes everyone money because everyone borrows money which they lend to other people, who wanted to borrow money ( and waste it on crap which wont make them feel happier- true study ) to start with. The whole system is so used to & reliant on borrowing money ( credit ) and it only works if the people who borrow it can make money to pay it back, then the lenders end up in the black ( by getting repaid with interest ) and they can in turn lend more money to other people.

It all falls down though when the people borrowing don't pay it back, so the lenders have to borrow from other lenders... etc etc. Fairly simple concept really- think of lending and borrowing as loop rather than a pyramid and it makes much more sense...

The thing that makes it fail though, is the part where the lenders don't actually have the money that they lend.
