You can do a lot worse than C.R.J, however with the Dolphins cheerleaders added in... Well, let's just say it gets a thumbs up from me! :thumb:

Ok all you US car haters... tell me this doesn't impress you for a £39,000 car.

Awe. Elation. Jealousy. Nostalgia... Just a handful of the emotions that I felt watching that. Only watching and listening to such immense cars and drivers put a massive grin on my face. I can only imagine what sitting shotgun would feel like!

    662bhp, 631lb/ft, £39,000 - yay
3,850lbs - the same weight as a 90s BMW 7 Series, live rear axle - the same as a cart - nay

And that's before you get to OTR price here in Blighted y.

    As driven price: £41,862
    Import Duty: 10%
    VAT: £total + 20%
    Shipping: c.$7000 (containerised) + insurance (c.1.5% car's value) = £5,152

Add to this at least £3,000 for UK modification - fitting of EU compliant parts, labour, trailer hire, IVA, DVLA first registration fee, first year's road tax etc. Grand total...

    £63,500

Welcome to England! Here is a bill for £21,638.

    Yawn...

Oh you can shave loads off that. For a start, if buying new for immediate shipment, you pay zero sales tax at the US end.

You can ship RoRo instead of a container, for $1200. People think this is unsafe, but this is exactly how all cars are imported into the country. If you own a car that was not built here (most cars), it arrived via a roll on roll off ship along with hundreds of others and no ill harm befell them.

You can arrange insurance from this end for less than 1.5% of the value... done it a few times.

Mods and the IVA test come to around £1200, not £3000, but it's actually perfectly possible to do it yourself for a total cost of around £100 if you're competent with basic electronics and capable of following a set of instructions.

It will cost you £60K if you buy it from a dealer here, yes, but you know what? For a 200MPH, 600+bhp muscle car with all the toys.... bring it on!

However... do all the leg work yourself and you can have it on the road here for around £53k.

A genuine 200MPH legend of a car that depreciates in value slower than the wind erosion of granite, has road presence like nothing else you can buy here, sounds like God gargling on Tabasco sauce and does a standing quarter in the 11s out of the box and hits 0-60 (if you place any importance on that stupid measurement) in 3.5secs.

Despite this.... most people will go....

...Oh.. but it has a live axle (even though I have no real world experience of this... but Top Gear don't like it).... so... Nah.... LOL

Good.... fewer Mustangs in the UK means higher residual prices for me :) All that import duty and tax you quoted? Buy a M5 and you'll lose that and more in the first 12 months of ownership. My Mustang has lost a mere £4k in value in almost 7 years of ownership, and that's just a GT... Shelbys lose even less. Who's laughing at who? :)

    However... each to their own.

I really want those. And honestly, the live rear axle isn't too bad. Yeah it's not great, but the car over all is a blast to drive. Sans automatic gearbox, I'd have one of those babies anytime. I mean please, dat engine and exhaust note.
