His skills are just legendary though. I can see why they only upload a couple of updates a year.

He's unbelievable. I have access to some pretty good fabricators for my build but I wish I had him building my whole car. The way he's overcome the huge obstacles he's run into so far just blows my mind. He's not just some guy in a pair of dirty overalls with a workshop full of tools and some crazy idea, he's an absolute genius.

The power to weight ratio of that little thing will be ridiculous. We're trying every trick in the book to put my ST205 track car on a diet and get it under 1000kg with a conservative figure of about 400bhp to begin with... They're using the engine and running gear out of an ST185 so it's running about 250bhp before he tinkers with it, which no doubt he will. But the Mini will end up weighing way less than a ton, so it'll go like a bat out of hell and with the AWD, his very well designed suspension, steering geometry and the wide stance, it'll be glued to the road too!

 

I did exactly the same thing, binge watched them all over the weekend. It is amazing what he does, although he does make his life harder at some points haha

 

The only thing I find odd is that he hasn't de-seamed the car. I know he said stock look, but he's already sort of broken that by going with the chrome filler cap. Seams are ugly IMO.

 

The chrome cap is such a common mod, especially on Minis with wider arches that a lot of peole who aren't more familiar with the cars would probably assume that it was a standard part. Especially now that the current model Cooper S cars come with a chrome cap rather than the body coloured flap.

I think that the part that has impressed me most so far (aside from the general fit and finish, of course) has been the door locking linkage that he worked out to change the locking direction of the solenoid and still fit everything into the stock finish and trim.

I'd seriously love to be able to do this sort of swap with my little Yaris (keeping it all Toyota... ) but there's no way I cout manage even a fraction of this.

The sheer amount of features he has crammed in are incredible. Normally on a car like this it's all mechanics and no creature comforts. Alu door panels alu floor etc. I will admit I actually yayed when I saw the seats he was using. Very very nice.

The only thing I see as silly are the safety features he's incorporated. I mean sure, they're nice and all but let's face if it you crashed that thing you would be dead. They'd literally have to bury you in it. One thing I don't think he can cram in there are air bags. Though maybe he could get one on a steering wheel or something.

 

He's not caging it, and I don't believe he will be even attempting to fit air bags. If they have a high speed crash in that Mini, they're not going to be in good shape.

 

I look forward to watching it massacre super cars
