Hey all, question about dying. My case's acrylic bezel is clear, and the dye I own is plasti-kote vinyl coloring, which I've heard is not true dye. I've already used it on my drive bay covers and it worked great, I just wanted to check if anyone knew/can confirm that it will work on the the clear acrylic. Thanks! RoshDogg
Confirmed. It will work. I like to sand the surface first with a very fine grit, I think it makes the color look slightly deeper. Even if you don't, adhesion to acrylic was excellent in my tests (it didn't scratch off). And of course, paint the back side. It will look really really great. And welcome to the boards.
I had excellent results with plastic-kote on acrylic... check out my worklog to see how it came out. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22458&perpage=&pagenumber=2 looks great when painted from the backside and viewed through the acrylic. All I did to prep my surface was to clean it real good prior to painting.
Thanks for the information, I wish I could get mine to look as good as yours, eddie! Well I'm off to finish my mod, thanks all!
np... not difficult really, just do light layers and keep it in a safe place while drying so it doesn't get contaminated with dust/bugs... will come out great.
