I've heard that a lot before but whenever I try spraying thin coats I find they get really un even. Is it ok say spray once, let it dry spray once again (maybe from a different angle) let it dry, and then keep spraying even if it doesn't get into the places you want it to at first? Do all the thin coats have to be as even as possible?

quick tip ... paint the led's (or light pipes for the led's) with hot wax and the dye wont darken them ... i use a candle and a paintbrush with only 5 bristles left to do it ...

and clean the plastic with isopropyl alchohol and let it dry completely before you spray, if there's cigarette funk or finger oils on it you'll get unever spots on your drive faces ...

and if the you spray too heavy and it bubbles a little, for gods sake dont touch it!!!! it will dry ok, i promise.

^^^ in uk just use white spirit m8, wot ur looking to do is basically de-grease the area b4 spraying
for things like bezels i normally just put them in the washing up - washingup liquid is one of the best degreasers around!

like the hot wax idea, i usually just use grease painted on which works fine

So basically will the black writing on the front of the cd drive still show through then? If so i could use this to spray onto my keyboard instead of covering the letters up. Can you get this stuff in any colour as well?

    thanx

in my experience ive found that yes the letters do show through, only because they are on top of the plastic though, they dont show up enough to be usefull though :waah:

Yes, if you paint in thin coats, the writing will still be visible that's one of the great things about vinyl dye.

To paint your keyboard it would be advisable to take the keys off and paint them separately and mask off the "key section" to paint the body of the keyboard. The only thing about painting the keys is that most keyboards have the letters painted on so you will loose those. Some people opt for re-legending their keyboard and others just leave the keys and paint just the casing of the keyboard.

Yes, it does. I got mine from Autozone. It's made by Plasti-Kote. It's actually pretty shiny for vinyl dye.
