I have a question about: Its 12v, and i was thinking of replacing the fan on the arctic cooler for this one... however this one doesnt blow all that hard.. The issue i have is that when I start up the computer with this blower plugged, its starts to blow really well for the first second, and then mellows out... is it maybe not getting enough juice? I have it plugged into the black and yellow connections in the molex plug. Another question regarding my lcd: How do I setup my dual monitors so that the sceensaver runs on the mini lcd and not on my main crt monitor, yet have my crt monitor the primary display (cause if i put the llcd as the primary display all windows open up on it... and its so tiny.. i cant read it.)
Well it's rated for 1.34A, so it should blow your head of, almost Could be some kind of temperature-thingy. They often begin with 12v to let it spin up, and then they adjust the rpm to the temperature. Look for a termistor!
Cant really see on that pic, but isnt that thing there a component with a blue body och 2 legs? Maybe its something else..
i snipped one wire connecting to the blue thing and nothing different happened. Im wondering... could my problem something else? The blower had a third white wire coming from the motor.... what was that for?
Just taking a wild guess but could the white wire be a ground or something? Maybe the temp. monitor wire or something? Do you have another power adaptor to test the fan with?
Nope, don't think it's a temp. monitor because I looked up the PDF for that fan and it doesn't indicate what the blue thing is.
Well, that certainly is a termistor on the pic. Don't care what the pdf says, that couldn't be anything else. If you connect the two legs om he termistor, there will be no resistance, and therefore the fan blow spin at 12v all the way
what do you mean "connect the two legs"? I cut off the blue thing with its legs and the fan still doesnt blow any better.
Anyone? I need to figure if I can use this blower now, cause otherwise Im gonna go down to a surplus store and find me another... Anyone? If that blue thing is a thermister, and I cut it off altogether... and it still didnt improve the airflow of the blower (which pushes very little air) then is there any hope for this blower? anything I can do to speed it up?
re. the multimonitor thing, you need http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/ lovely bit of software. AH
I cut the two wires together... are you telling me to connect them together now? wont that short curcuit it or something?
Okay, i tired connecting them... GEEEEzuS! holy crap! It worked, and nearly blew my head off! The only prob is its way too loud. So i connected it to the 5v line instead, and its working at a decent level... is it alright to use the 5v line instead?
Next week Im going to spend it all on this mod (cause Im off of work, and school starts the week after, and my parents are away on vacation.... So next week is MOD WEEK.... starting Tuesday afternoon (cause i have something important I need to do at school). What I want to do next week: 1) Install my lcd 2) Hook up my new psu (if it comes by then) and have all the cables in placve and hidden 3) finish modding my videocard cooling 4)maybe install a window (we shall see) 5) Im sure something else will need to be done... just cant think of it right now.
