Lol, unfortunately not and yes I did mean k and not m! Can you imagine!?

For me it's about uploading photos. I come back from a day out with a gigabyte of pics to upload to flickr and it takes an age and I can't do much else while I do that as my connection is saturated. I'd also use online backup services but last time I tried it took on average 4 hours to backup my pc after just 3 days of changes. What Virgin is providing is a threefold increase.

Up loading is the worst thing for me, it takes about 30mins to get 30 pics onto photo bucket, make project logs a right pain.

    WTH lol. Weird.

I read on the web that they basically just started, and will continue to roll it out until early 2011. So I suppose it could reach us at any time in the next few months.

My broadband wasn't responding when I got in from work - rebooted the modem and all was well.

Better, even - I checked my speed, and this was the result:

Wahey! My upload is faster then my old ADSL download speed! :hehe:

Only just recently sorted my broadband out with Virgin. I have been a customer since the ntl days and unbeknown to me up until a week ago I was still on a 1mb (yes 1mb!) connection and to top it off paying £17.99/pm for the pleasure! Phone calls ensued and i'm now on 20mb for I think £12.50/pm? How that works I do not know!

Unfortunately my hardware cannot handle 20mb so I'm waiting on a new router and modem from them which was supposed to be here today but it would appear the snow has put a spanner in the works.

Will update when I'm up and running!

im on a 50mb package but when ever i run a speed test i never get over 20mb/s and at the moment its at 15 with 1.5 upload.

this gets very annoying, maybe it is because of the number of computers using it but i duno

    51.50Mb/s Down
    0.81Mb/s up

The connection here is pretty much fail. I should get an engineer out to fix my upstream as it constantly fails to sync after a modem reboot on upstream signal. I can only imagine it's a weak signal or someone else's modem is shouting too loud in the local area.

I'll have a check when i get home. Not that it will really make much of a difference to my internet usage. I'm pretty sure I read that they are scaling back the UL speeds to what they previously were during peak times, i'll look for a source on that though.

Strange... anybody else find their ping has gone up? My average ping has gone up from 16ms to 32ms.

If anyone's interested, here's the VM schedule for the 100Mb service rollout.

    http://shop.virginmedia.com/content/dam/allyours/pdf/100Mb-rollout-7-12-10.pdf

I'm not sure wihich hub I'm on - Northampton East is mentioned in the doc, but if I'm on that one I shouldn't have had my upload speed increase yet. That hub isn't scheduled to get it until January.

How do I find out which hub I'm on?

to find out which area you are connected to, go to http://tools.virginmedia.com/ and at bottom, note down xxxx.zzzz.cable.virginmedia.com. where zzzz is the area short name.

(hint, last page of that PDF you posted)

Yes and no. My speedtest ping seems to be the same, but just recently my ping in games has got much worse without any change to any hardware/software anywhere. I don't know if VM are allowing certain connection types higher ping.

It wouldn't surprise me if it gave you all the bandwidth in the world on "speedtest.net" and limited everything else :hehe:

But in all seriousness I have had great internet experiences with VM, and I really couldn't deal with net slower than 50mb. Even though my upload is still 1-1.5mb, it is still faster than some friend's download speeds.

Aha - Using the website, I find I am on Northampton East (NRTE). It must cover the whole town, as I'm no where near the eastern side of Northampton.

Doesn't explain my faster upload. Not that I'm complaining. :)
