Hey there people I'm currently having to tether my phone to my pc to have any internet access, as Virgin Media seem to be the worst decision I've made so far this year; took out a contract with them and got connected on the 23rd. Engineers turned up on time ( nice guys too, good laugh) did their stuff in no time and I was up and running, did a quick pingtest; 12 ping, 3 jitter all was fine and dandy.....or so I thought. Come home from work on Thursday, boot up my PC; no net connection, restarted my router etc etc etc and nothing. Called up CS, waited 15 mins on hold to talk for about 2min with a very vague call center employee (I checked my call log which said 19.20 call time) who said It was an area fault which would be resolved by 0500 the next day. Friday: No net in the morning, nor when I got in from work at 1500, once again called CS; It should be resolved by 1700 tonight is the answer. Well, still no net when I leave around 1930 for the pub. Saturday: get in about 1030, nothing. Call CS again apparantly it will be fixed by 1600-1730 today. I get an automated message at 1520 saying that all issues in my area had been resolved but please call CS if still experiencing difficulties etc. Still not online though. Call CS again, this time they say it's probably a faulty router and they will send an engineer out asap, first appointment 1200-1400 on Monday, which I took thinking ok atleast I got net by monday. I got a text from Virgin about 20min ago: "Hi There, You recently called us and booked a technician due to a problem with your Virgin Media Services. We have identified an issue in your area which is affecting your services. Your technician has been cancelled and we aim to have your services restored as soon as possible. Virgin Media" Amazing! Brilliant! I've got no internet and they've decided to cancel my engineer appointment, seemingly for fun and I've spent a total of 57.32 minutes on the phone to Virgin on an 0845 number from a mobile because I don't have a landline. This is just absolutely ****ing incredible!
Exactly the same thing happened to my brother but his internet became so slow that it was worse then a 56k connection he rang them up maybe about 30 time in the space of 3 months they just kept on telling him it was a line fault and ill be fixed shortly but nothing was done about it luckly he was over his 12 month contract so he cut off virgin and got sky now he is very happy! All i can say to you is keep calling them but dont just speak to a call centre employee speak to a manager and tell them exactly how you feel and you are not going to pay a single penny until the problem is solved becuase why should you have to pay for a service you are not recieving
Sounds really crap dude. On the positive side, at least you have customer services. Sky are terrible. They should have left the engineer at least till the area problem was resolved, then if your issues are gone, cancel the visit.
I have had sky for 2 years and every time i have called to resolve a problem they have been very good at sorting it out either over the phone or sending an engineer never had an issue with them
You know people die from lying, don't you? I've mostly had to sort out my own problems, whether it be a 400 ping during gaming, or crapped out router..In my experience they didn't want to know. I suppose its different for everyone though. No ISP's are perfect.
I have phoned Sky a few times over the past few years and I couldn't be happier with the customer service I received from them. The staff I spoke to were very polite, seemed knowledgeable and everything they said that they would do, they did. I can only assume that you have had bad CS from them in the past but I can assure you it is not across the board.
Our phone line kept dieing (on the 50mb virgin) and they refunded our £11/month whenever, several times, no problems. When ours went slow we were told it was an "area fault" several times, then eventually "there's a corrupted file on your modem" and 30secs later it was fine again.
The worst thing I've had from Virgin was when they said "Hang on, your modem's about 7 years old isn't it? Do you want the new one?" and I had to reboot into windows to 'activate' it even though I was able to connect through it fine anyway (msn worked, etc), but every 3 pageloads or so it would hijack the browser and make me go to an 'activation' page which only supports IE or Firefox on windows or OSX. FFFuuuu...
I ditched Virgin due to total incompetence, Down right lies, and general ineptitude. I've been with sky for 2 years and never had a fault. I'd not have Virgin if they gave it me free.
I totally agree with this. I had a running battle with them over a line fault for about 4 months. They said it wasn't down to them, then when I proved to them it was their fault they supposedly fixed it 5 times I think and it still wasn't sorted. In the end I told them to shove it and changed to talk talk. I have one problem with them , they had it sorted in a day. I got a bill from virgin about 2 weeks ago for £84 even though they were given the correct amount of notice to cancel, they can't even get that right they still think I've got broadband with them Needless to say I told them to shove that where the sun don't shine.
I noted you mentioned you are calling the 0845 number, which I have a massive personal gripe with and flatly refuse to use when I wish to interract with any companies. I happen to have a geographical number for VM, which puts you thru to a switchboard/reception. Just ask them to put you through to Customer Services and it works fine for me. Number is as follows 01256 752 000 I got this from one of the best websites out there www.saynoto0870.com, I use for loads of things and has saved me a bomb. Hope this helps your wallet in the very least
O2, been a great cheap service and their customer service is freephone. All customer service should be freephone IMO, it may encourage them to give a good service. +1 Use this site for any pay for numbers or google until I can find a normal area code number. +rep for the number BTW.
Love the saynoto0870 site! I remember phoning some company once, the number listed actually went straight to the call centre, in that it rung once and was answered straight away, I didn't even realise
I once cancelled a delivery from this company Orange uses to deliver phones, and then due to new circumstances (I ****ing kerbed the car and got a flat and wasn't entirely sure on wheel changing procedure and missed college >_<) I could be around at the time originally stated for the delivery. So I somehow found the depot phone number, called them, and they called the driver to see if he could drop it off (it was in the van before I cancelled) anyway, and he did. Real phone numbers Cheesecake.
