Windows Vista 64 makes monitor turn off

    I just installed vista 64 onto my pc (C2D 6400, 4Gb Geil mem, 160Gb HD, Asus P5b Deluxe, Nvidia 8800GTS(640mb)) everything is ok untill i log on then my screen (dell e207wfp) goes into power saving mode..... any ideas what causing this? im guessing nvidia drivers as in safe mode it works fine

    What drivers are you using? The latest WHQL's?

    175.16_geforce_winvista_64bit_english_whql

    edit: it must be the nvidia drivers as when i uninstall them the system is fine...
    any recommendations?

    I had a similar thing on m Vista 64 install and upgraded the BIOS and did a clean install and it didn't do it anymore.

    Sounds like the drivers are either trying to push a resolution or vsync that your monitor doesn't support. Go into safe mode with the 175.16 drivers installed and see what res/vsync it has set.
