I do system builds for others around campus here at uni, and have been wondering how to edit the OEM logo information.

In XP its a registry key, but I've had no luck so far figuring it out with vista.

anyone know what the key is for vista (or another way of changing it?)

Yes, there is a way to change it, I think it's done by an inf file somewhere. I remember reading a thread on it over at Neowin, have a look in their Vista customisation forums.

    no joy.

I ask mostly because I take some pride in the systems I build, and wish to show who took the time and effort to build them.

I don't know if these will work in Vista... but there's one way to find out :D

It doesn't say it's Vista compatible specifically, but it's gotta be worth trying this small (468kb) / FREE OEM Information Changer program first?

Alternatively... here's a couple of more convoluted methods which should work for Vista:

Changing the OEM info in the System Properties window
How can I change or add OEM logo and information on my computer?

[edit] Again... I don;t know if it works under Vista... but I've just remembered another program which you could try!
WinCust [also] makes it easy to change the logo, registered owner and organization ;) [/edit]

Vista is slightly different, I found the OEMinfo file, but it's some unreadable filetype.

I'll continue digging and see what I can find.

(I knew the XP process, it didn't work on vista so I asked here..)
