Just wonna know, should i wait for SP1 or just go for it now? i got XP Pro SP3 32bit installed now And if i do go for vista U 64bit now, ill get 4GB more RAM which will give me a 6GB total and a new 320mb WD HDD sata2 to run it on.... My main 2008 upgrade will be in March, which will be new PSU and graphics card. so i could go for it all in one go in march?!?! So is Vista in such a bad state not to install it until SP1 (which comes mid-March) [BTW i already got the install disk] Thanks for your thoughts
I've ran Vista ultimate 32bit since my upgrade back in November, and aside from one game not running straight out of the box (namely Thief 2), I've not experienced a single problem with it. It all runs fast, keeps itself clean and tidy and is generally very stable. It also looks pretty... Also, I think running 4GB(2x2GB) of RAM in dual channel mode would be faster than running 6GB in single channel. 6GB would use more power aswell, resulting in more limited overclocking ability.
You know you can install Vista now and upgrade when the time comes, for Free. This isn't Mac software where you have to pay for Leopard a service pack. Zing. If you're going to use up one of your "hardware upgrades" from MS (asshats) - wait until you've got the hardware though.
haha, that's so true. i'd say get Vista SP1. im running SP1 now, just installed half hour ago, during 9am lecture. although i haven't noticed any difference........ anyone care to tell me apart from large file transfer speeds (don't do that often) what other improvements are there?
What is this about, I have never heard of it before? I have heard of the Xbox 360 and the fusable resistors and that it burns out one each time it updates itself and it could eventually become a plastic brick (if the red ring of death doesn't do it first). Is Microshaft doing a software version of the 360 update thing but with hardware updates?
now this is where i get to be happy that wintec (where i study) sucks ms d*** (resulting in me getting free vista business among other things of ms's
Something that has come to attention with SP1, after updating it resets your language bar back to deafult settings, this proved tricky when trying to log onto the machine and discovering the punctuation keys had been shifted around due to the different keyboard language layout. After the first login, the language settings go back to how they where before the update, however on first login after the update this issue could arise on some machines (specialy laptops im hearing).
Basically "official" vista only allows a change of hardware like 3-5 times, with different hardware being weighted differently - graphics is quite low, motherboard is very high. OEM copies are tied to a single motherboard ID. It's a BS and expensive system for enthusiasts.
