Anyone got any idea if and how I can measure what effect (if any) my 2GB ReadyBoost drive is having?

I've got a decent spec machine, so I'm not expecting any great speed-up, but I'm just curious to see if there are any metrics which might give and indication if/how it is being used.

Try it in a game - run a game benchmark without ReadyBoost and then re-run the benchmark with it enabled. With lower-ram machines it makes a significant difference, see this comparison.

Also launch some programs that you use often, like a web browser with and without it enabled, since the caching algorithm takes account of that (and various other factors).

I tried it with 3DMark06 but it was inconclusive. I've got 2GB of fast RAM and 2GB more on order so RAM isn't an issue, therefore gains won't be as big as if I only had 512Mb.

But there will still be a smaller performance gain, and I want to investigate its worth. There *must* be some way of tracking how many hits and how much volume it's providiing...

I've no pressing need to know...just curious. I'm also anticpating recommending it to people with more modest machines so it would be nice to be able to quantify the benefit apart from through rough observation.

Interesting to see (from your linky) that there was a discernable difference adding a 1GB flash disk to a 2GB machine... more than I expected.
