I recently upgraded from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate and decided, as per Apple's advice, to not install iTunes. I went the Windows Media Player 11, a reasonable alternative, and downloaded MGTEK dopisp so that I could sync. Everything worked fine once, but now my iPod just flashes green and amber lights when i try to do anything. dopisp recognizes it but says I need to restore it in iTunes. iTunes on Vista gives me an error (1418), and iTunes on OSX says that it cannot be restored because it cannot be unmounted. What options do I have? I've had the Shuffle for less than a year, is it still under warranty? Or is it a lost cause?
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304510 that may help - apparently you have no music loaded on it. have you tried resetting it using the button combo and reconnecting it to OSX itunes?
Thanks, somehow just trying it over and over again made it work. Now, any ideas for open source or freeware programs to sync a Shuffle on Vista (besides dopisp)? I tried quite a few and none of them seem compatible with both.
Thats weird Itunes works fine for me on Vista 64bit Ultimate edition, I went against there advice and thought I'd give it ago. I did however enable disk usage because of a potential problem outlined on there website.
doesnt Winamp Sync with ipods? musicmatch does too, i though. *shrug* i am not completely sure, though.. ipods make me cry
Use REALPLAYER!!! connects with almost any device just not very sure if it works with vista but just give it a go anyway
