Apple vlc problems?

    Hi guys
    does anyone else have problems with VLC and playing dvds on their MBP?

    when i choose open disc, i get garbled video. but it plays fine when I open the video_ts folder?!

    why would you use VLC in lieu of the standard OS X DVD app?

    well... VLC is supposed to bypass the region settings on the drive.
    This too am having problems with.
    I've got a few dvds from the states and don't really want the region to lock
