Apple Vodaphone On To Something? iPhone Contract-Free... Maybe.

Not sure if this has legs, but wouldn't it nice if something came of it Europe-wide and not just Germany? I can handle the handful of sub-par features on the iPhone, but the contract is a deal breaker for me atleast.

 

Buy one in France. French law says phones MUST be sold unlocked.

PS: 3G version due in May 2008.

Well, I wish this would be the case here in the UK.
I agree with Vodafone Germany – consumers should not have to be forced to use one carrier.
To me it’s the same as price fixing!
