Anyone seen this car? It looks absolutely awesome I think! It trys to be a smaller Golf and I think it looks incredibly sexy. Brand new from about £20k What do you folks think?
Seen a couple out and about now and they definitely turn some heads. Can see why it got Top Gear's Car of the Year 08.
I'd get one over a Golf GTI as it comes with more kit as standard and well it is a Golf basically. But personally I wouldnt buy either. R26.R Megane for me, now theres a head turner.
There's a blue one of these that I get to see now and then on the way home from work, absolutely beautiful. Its has a VW Golf GTI engine in it IIRC. I just love the looks, they are so unique from the rest of the VW range. It was based off the VW Iroc Concept see video below. Though I fear that the unique looks wont last forever, VW has realised that the looks are popular and may decide to transfer the design cues across the range. This is the new (fifth) generation Polo to be released in the UK in October.
It does have the same 2.0T FSI engine as the golf, A3 and alot of other vag group cars. Its mapped to be slightly more powerful from standard I believe. Next year you will be able to get the 1.4 twin charged version(super and turbo chargers) Its pretty much the same platform as the golf with some modification to the rear axel set up I believe. Also you can get the adaptive suspension from an Audi TT on these. The shocks are filled with a magnetic fluid so damping gets adjusted on the fly or something
I'd love one, It would go nicely with our Corrado but alas the new Scirocco is far too much money for me at the moment.
Damn right - it's a lovely car to be inside and it feels faster than it is on paper. Comfort suspension mode is fun - feels like sitting on marshmallows. 'Viper Green' looks awesome. Shame we don't get to keep it really When I win Euro Millions tonight I'll probably pick one up
TrustedReviews do car reviews? I'm sure I'm not thinking of the same TrustedReviews. @Fod How about the Alpha 8c Competizione?
oooooh problem with alfas is their value drops like a stone. 2nd hand is where it's at regardless tbh. think i might buy a brera as my next car. but that's a long way away
did a test drive a few weeks ago, drives great, verry comfortable, hard suspension (sportscar...) cant see sh*t thrue the rear window
Why not? It's not "hardware reviews". I'm a bit lost why people think websites shouldn't change from what they've always reviewed - if you're interested in the subject still, and you like the writers, surely that's a good thing? (on the proviso they do a good job). If bit-tech did car reviews I would understand. Unless it was an electric car... DailyTech and Wired do car stuff..
