Windows W10 c-drive Folder with weird files has appeared - 40GB and counting

    A folder has appeared in my c-drive with a strange name - 186 files all equally strangely named are in the folder - 221MB each...... Does anyone know what these are??? Screen grab of some of the folder contents below.

    Been doing some late night 'searching' on those internet sites have you?

    Seriously, do you know what the file extensions/types are?

    Lol - no, and the fact they appear to all be the same size is odd. I'm minded just to delete the lot, but would prefer to know what they are before nuking them. They don't seem to show an extension/type. If I right-click and look at properties, no file type or extension is shown...

    Do you use Heidi Eraser, by any chance? Triggered a - or had a scheduled - unused space erase recently? 'cos that creates randomly-named files of 216MB each to fill the disk, then deletes 'em when it's done.

    Yep, that's it. Now I have to ask myself, do I use Eraser to erase the Eraser files. FFS ... Disappointing that it doesn't erase the files itself..

    It does, but only when it's completely finished - if you interrupt it, they stay.
