Still deciding on the actual board, but I picked up a keycap set today... well.. ordered it. Should be here tomorrow. Full set, including ANSI or ISO, with +8 keys for UK, and also 1u modifiers, 6U and 6.25U spacebar. That should cover me for almost anything and I love that colour... and also backlit, which is rare for double shot PBT.

Also a set of Gateron Milky yellow switches... pre lubed with Krytox 205G0 and TX films.

I've decided. It's going to be a GMMK Pro. There's no point in holding out for a full 105 ISO keyboard on group buys... there's only one currently running, and it's £390 bare bones. I shall buy a separate numpad.

I have been looking at the Mountain and the Drop Shift, but the more I look, the more I feel they are not for me. TKLs are few and far between (I can't afford the Frog, so that leaves relatively little that's still available).

I was stuck deciding between the Keychron Q1, which is a current group buy with a fast manufacturing turnaround, but apparently is acoustically quite poor. The GMMK Pro is a little more expensive, but is easier to make sound nicer but the gasket mounting is ridiculously stiff. Both will need modifying, but the GMMK Pro is easier to mod, and with the right switches, can sound extremely nice. It is also much easier, and faster to get hold of.

I was also trying to decide whether to go ANSI, or stay ISO, but I'm having a real hard time trying to find a ANSI version of the GMMK Pro, so I'm just going ISO. The stock "GOAT" stabs are apparently a tragedy, so I've just ordered some Durock V2 stabilisers for it. Some 205g0 lube for the switches, and 205g2 for the stabs, and some Deskey films (the place I was buying the switches from just e-mailed me to tell me he couldn't film them, so I told him to send them stock and I'll lube and film myself).

I can't find anywhere in the UK with stocks of the polycarbonate plate, which would be my preferred choice (for sound, and RGB), so the stock aluminium one will have to do for now.

So, yeah... I've gone from just wanting a nice full size keyboard with nice RGB and bling, to buying a (when adding it all up) £300, 75% keyboard, with terrible RGB, that will need modifying before I am even happy with it. What a difference a few days make LOL.

Yeah, it's amazing how fast it all adds up. Satisfying to have a very personal end result though.

I didn't realise the GMMK pro ISO had been released. Must. Resist! :worried: Though if it's only just been released that might be why you're struggling to find stock of the ISO polycarb plate.

This is what finally made up my mind. I think sounds amazing... it's pretty much exactly what I had in my head as the perfect sound profile.

yeah, they're in stock at Overclockers.co.uk right now. I cancelled my order though, as I found a ANSI version, and ordered that instead. It's on its way.
