    Suhweeeet!

Still working on the best way to deal with the GPUs, the problem with doing it the way you originally suggested is that because of the space between the cards you would end up with only ~2.5mm of thread for the vertical connections (would need to use a male-male connector which adds 3.5mm to the height) and I dont think it's enough. I'm considering getting a running nipple (threaded along the whole length) and glueing it into place which would also allow me to adjust the height. I'll let you know when I've worked through the different options.

Just need you to PM me your postal address.

What i shall do is hold on to the remander of the delrin incase there are any problems or other parts required.

The GPU idea would indeed be tight. I assume your board is a single spacing between PCI-E and not double. Double spacing would be ideal.

The threads need cleaning as there is some swarf in there, but my fingers are too numb to clean it out.

I just remembered i have three lumps of copper of simular thickness at my parents house, need to pick that up next time im there, for some old school water blocks!

Daaaamn. What motherboard are you using? Curious how you're mounting the SB waterblock.

    Nice work Burnout.

Motherboard is a Supermicro X7-DWA. The computer is essentially the same as I covered in my earlier thread, this is an update focusing on minimising the volume of the computer to make transport easier. I'm not sure I will be watercooling the SB but if I do I will use the standard swiftech hook mounts, possibly modifying them to fit. I hope to do a more complete worklog this time around.

I wish your board was cheaper because i could really do with the extra processing power for the rendering cause! lol!

I may be selling my dual Xeon setup pretty soon as I no longer need it to edit photos. I bet everybody wishes the had the £££s for this (also for the hearing aids you'll need after using it)

Re the GPUs, why not make something like this:

It's mostly a question of practicality. I have two different cards in the computer with two different waterblocks on them which means that the holes don't line up. I don't want to disassemble the loop and get accurate dimensions because I need to use the computer every day. There is also the problem of how to attach the manifold to the blocks.

What computer is that identikit? Before I built this setup I looked very hard ant trying to get hold of one of these so as to pack the computer into an even smaller volume. Problem was that they only have a single PCIe slot and I need two for my Geforce and Quatro cards. It looks like that one has two PCIe 16x slots.

It's a Supermicro 6016GT-TF. Fastest 1U server at 2Tflops when it's got two Tesla GPUs in it.

    http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/6016/SYS-6016GT-TF.cfm?GPU=

    Retails at around a grand.

Ahh, the mobo isn't listed separately, I would be such a happy boy if I could get hold of one of those for my next system (actually by the time I'm building my next system it'll be out of date but you get the idea).

Sorry Burnout, I meant to tell you but never got 'round to it; my situation changed and I didn't have the money to complete the mod. I also no longer needed to transport my computer every couple of months so the pressure to build the smallest system went away.

I do still plan to build something along these lines but I have other priorities at the moment, number 1 being getting my system working again.

Very grateful for your help, I'm disappointed that I didn't get to follow it through, I'll let you know when I get working on it again.

that's ok chap, modding is actually the last thing to worry about in real life, some would disagree but most of them here are still 12! lol!

Not really, as I explained earlier my circumstances changed and I wasn't able to complete the project. It was good work by Burnout though.
