i have 8 12 inch lcd displays that i want to convert into one large display(have the panels in a 2x2 2x2 set up) for one upter possible i was this webpage that made 2 virtual windows but what he did was way to specialize for his monitors to understand. the monitors are all normal vga inputs, so i was wondering how i can hook up the cables and what kind of hardware (video cards) i would need to run this dream project of mind. heres the catch i need to this on the cheap side (no extra cash laying around) any suggestions would be great, thanks in advance.
i think 4 5200's could work? i dunno 5200's have 2 out puts right? (not including the s video or whatever) so just hook 2 monitors to each card, o ya and there pci cards
If it were me I'd simply plug it into a video wall controller (you wouldn't need an expensive one, just one that supports the ratios you need for your screens) and run the video in from a decent graphics card (one with a VERY high VGA resolution) and bobs your uncle
If you just get 2 graphics cards that have 4 monitor outputs (try the company matrox [I think that's how you spell it]), then you can just use windows to set all the monitors up as on big one.
The Matrox Parahelia is triple headed, IIRC, you want the G400/450/500 for Dual Head. Matrox do NOT make a 4 head card. The Parahelia is also bloody expensive for what is old hardware (I'd still love one though, Matrox always had lightning fast, Quality 2D) InSanCen
