Anybody using WMP 9 with it (sp1)? Media Player crashes on load now, nothing I have done fixes it. Errors about missing functionality in the shared ASF lib. Media Player 6 works, and there is no way to revert back to 7 for me (turned of system restore LONG ago).
Er, no.. it's tough luck you because you're the one who's risking your neck. Anyway. lot's of people can't afford Cable TV, so they stick with Terran, or the minimal package. Some people can't afford new cars, so they drive bangers. Doesn't mean they steal cable or nick cars. What it is, is irrelevant. A tiny diamond can cost tens of thousands of pounds, it's still worth that much. Besides, for something you use almost every hour of every day, of every month of every year.. are you telling me £150 is too much for that? You have a choice, but instead you don't choose to use what you can afford, you choose to just steal what you can't because 'you want it'. It doesn't bother me in the slightest if people want to copy it and get themsevles in trouble, however if you want to shout about it from the rooftops in a public forum, don't come crying when the boys in blue take your PC away and no doubt come down on you for any other stuff on there you haven't paid for. It's not fair, but that's the way it is. Not buying it helps tell them people won't pay it, but copying it instead doesn't help you. All I was trying to say before being drawn into this argument is that if you are going to copy it, then don't discuss it on here because it's your own business and no-one elses.
The new EULA for 2k sp3/XP sp1 is crap anyway at the end of the day. If they have a real reason to checking you pc for whatever they will, even if it means with the help of the police etc.
im running the sp1, its nice, it seemingly XP that is preforms faster under more load, such as photoshop and kazaa etc running all at the same time, and it fixed my outlook problem with its loading time. STILL HASNT FIXED MY SCSI/IDE PROBLEM!!! RAWR!! I even upgraded bios, but the SP1 is alright, its done more improvement then harm from what ive seen, which is zero harm.
im trying to download it on 56k. i might give up before long. are there any magazines planning on putting it on a cd or somthing like that?
Do you have 3DMark scores comparing w/ w/o SP1? Or are you just believing that it's faster? I smell jedi mind tricks.
i didnt have them before, dont have them now, im not that much of a performance wanting person, so long as I can cs and looks damn good, its fine with me
i think it could be a psychological thing cos if you have done somehting & expect results your mind can play tricks on you & make you think it is running faster/better from what i hered sp1 does seem to chean some of the underlying gunk away to make your pc run marginally faster
its easy to get caught stealing a car or cable a diamond has resale value no, but i don't want to have to reactivate every time i change some hardware. i would happily pay for XP if it wasn't so... erm.. oppressive? if it let me do what i want. i can afford it, but i don't want to pay bill g for it, and not be able to use it how i want. i would use linux, but much of the stuff i want to use won't run, even with WINE.
Sorry, some very tired arguments against a baseline issue of theft. Plain and simple.. And the point I've also been trying to make is that everyone thinks they're completely outside the law when they're not, so they might not want to parade about showing off that they're thieves and and that this isn't the place to discuss where and how to encourage that activity. *shrug*

I mean if the cops come to your house and say "are you using a pirated copy of Windows XP or Windows 2000 Pro" and you say "Yes I am", they're not gonna chuck you in prison for it are they? b. Microsoft has a monopoly. You can't "drive" a "banger" O/S, with a banger car you can still drive it because it gets you from A to B, but if you use Linux for instance it can't run all the windows stuff (i use it on my servers). Analogy: Say that Ford and Volvo were the only car manafacturers. Volvo's cars weren't compatible with current roads . Ford's latest car costs £1 million and it works with everything. All the other cars from Ford were crap, except for Car 2000 Pro, which costs £0.5 million, and the Ford Bangers, which kept breaking down. People wouldn't buy Volvo's, because they didn't work. People wouldn't buy Car XP or Car 2000 because they cost too much. People would HAVE to buy bangers. But there's no such thing as a "Banger" when it comes to Windows. People like myself (especially poor students) have no money and I definitely wouldn't be able to afford a full version of 2000 Pro. Microsoft have a monopoly and are using it to their advantage. Besides, Microsoft have enugh money.
kna, dont worry about it, they will be the ones in court for copyed softwre, it dont matter if you sell tion or not but you can get caught for using copied software

Getting back on the topic and not discussing Microsoft. I donwloaded SP1 the other night, took me a whole 7 hours on my 56k but I gots it. Now I just have to go and install it. I think I will run some 3DMark benchies before and after. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
