Apple Warning to all Mac Pro Users! Toxic Mac Pro’s emitting benzene

When I saw this, I was terrified really. I have Mac but older one and thank God it doesn't have these health issues like other Mac Pro's. This piece of news was first spread on the official apple forum thread. Lot of users are having the same problem with bad smell of their Mac Pro. And it turned out that it has very bad influence on health. I think it is some benzene or something...

I heard it doesn't happen on every Mac Pro model but many have sensed it... If you are among them then change your mac fast!
Oh poor Apple... this will be very bad for them... I heard that there will be lot of lawsuits if Apple doesn't do something fast.

 

i don't understand. how can 1 computer produce toxic product while every other product are safe?

AFAIK Apple just use third party parts to build their machine, eg. Gigabyte motherboard, Intel CPU and nVidia reference designed graphics cards. so if that's toxic, then everyone's computer are toxic

 

Yeah, best not to work around Benzene, it's pretty damn carcinogenic.

 

Mine does not emit this smell at all.

 

I'm pretty sure the mobo isn't off the shelf, and that's what would cause the smell, a bad batch of motherboards.

Don't the mac pro's have build in liquid cooling system, and they use a refrigerant cooler type thing? Could that somehow have leaked and caused the problems? Didn't really read.

 

The last of the G5s had liquid cooling, the mac pros just use heat pipes and heat syncs.

As someone else said, the mac pro hardware is 99% the same as a PC workstation, so whats causing the silent but deadleys ... Or perhaps this also happens on some PCs

 

It's just glycol and water. Same crap you have in your car. Won't hurt you unless you drink it. Most likely some of the aluminum didn't get cleaned good enough at the factory. Though I don't know what would use benzene in any computer component.

This is such a load of nonsense it's not even funny. Someone probably just had a mouse die under the case and was smelling the decay or something (seriously, I found a dead mouse near my MP a few weeks back, gross)

 

lol, I can see a rumor starting that they attract mice which then die from the benzine.

with all the fans on my pc case I wonder why I have never thought to put an air freshener on one of the exhaust ones...

 

Now why the hell didn't I think of that. It would be cool though, having your fan with an interchangeable air freshener like the Glade thingies?

 

Better Idea!
Tumble dryer sheets double as ghetto intake fan filters, and make your PC Exhaust smell nice.

If you take a look at the apple's forum lnik that i gave above you will find your question answered. And i really don't know how but it is not only one mac that is emitting this benzene thing. It is whole line of models.. And everybody thinks Apple is guilty even though Mac is consisting of components like PC. Maybe it's mac case that is problem here i don't know really. but there is surely problem only with Mac Pro and not all Mac Pro's are affected.
