For those using MPC HC, what codecs do you need? is it good for music library or what do you use for that?
Currently I use WMP for everything except once in a while I need to use VLC (.flv and corrupt files). I'd like to cut down on resource and CPU usage.

    thanks

VLC. It just works. Never had any problems with it since the 0.8x days.

I just use it for videos, never tried music. I use Winamp instead.

mpc-HC has the codecs built in iirc.

ok. how much cpu and memory does winamp use? last time I tried it, it seemed to use more than WMP. for me CPU is at about 4% and memory 17MB.

VLC as a main for all movies and shows.
For watching clips of shows etc... bsplayer but a really old version, before you had to pay for it.

Does it actually matter? I mean a couple of % and 30MB or so of RAM isn't really worth bothering about on a multi-core rig these days, is it?

I've now stopped using MPC-HC in favour of Media Player 12 on win 7, it seems they have finally gotten it into a usability and speed place that I can be comfortable with.

I don't tend to watch much videos on the pc but when i do i use media player classic or windows media player.
I usually just stream to my xbox 360 windows media center. I use it more for that than gaming these days ever since i've got a powerful enough computer.. haha

    VLC for nearly everything.
On the rare occasion that it hiccups (sometimes happens with really high quality 1080p), then I switch to Mediaplayer Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC).

Just wondering, does Media Centre work with K-Lite codec pack? Because it doesn't seem to like my vid library, and having just got Win7, I'd rather use built-in Windows Media Centre than install VLC or MPC-HC.

Edit: I have just found Shark007 codecs from this thread, which specifically mentions WMC, so hopefully Shooter HD will finally play with that :thumb:

Windows media center in windows 7 requires no codec downloads like previous versions, however I still use VLC simply because I have used it for years I think it's flawless.

I use Mplayer classic. WMP makes a hash of 1080 MKV packaged MP4s.... fast forwarding makes the sound out of sync etc.

Windows Media Centre STILL doesn't play my .mkv files. I mean.. come on MS!!!
