Well I have my first confirmation!

The EX R290x waterblock -will- fit in a Corsair 250D. I had worried that the block on top would be too high, but it fits just right. :thumb:

I've updated the original post with a preliminary parts list.

Judging by this it looks like I might be able to get the 140ml in there. I found a spec sheet for the 140 that includes the extra space required for the pump itself.

Looks like the 140 will fit with the pump and still give me plenty of vertical clearance! This is good news. I can easily use the plug on the top of the res as the fill port and the pump will still reside at the lowest point in the system.

Turned on Materials, turned off reflections for now. Autocad's renderer LOOVES reflections, even when I am using materials that are completely non-reflective. I dunno.

This is actually REALLY USEFUL! I've been trying to work out if I could use a EK-DCP 2.2 (and res) with the optical drive above, and by comparing the heights, I reckon it's possible! :thumb: Definitely going to keep an eye on this thread.. I feel it's going to be a lifesaver for me! (My space awareness in my head is rubbish.. :hehe:)

Thanks Impatience I'll keep on trucking with it. That pump should work nicely. If you get your system built first please post pics. I could use some encouragement and some cable/tubing routing ideas. :thumb:

Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait until NEXT payday till I can afford the whole loop.. :( But I'll have a custom AIO fitted until then.. I'll give you pics of that though! :thumb:

Rad and fans fitted in. It's a tight squeeze, but... I think that's everything. I think it's just a matter of smart fitting, tubing and cabling at this point. That front case fan might have to go, or be replaced by a low profile one. I intend to use a couple of 80mm fans on the back exhaust ports so I'm not too worried about air flow.

Thanks for all this, was thinking of water-cooling the 250D when I build my new PC over the summer. How much does all of the water-cooling equipment cost? Wondering if its worth spending more over an H100i and a non reference 290x.

Edit: Found this, maybe it would be helpful for you.

All told, you're looking at about $450 for everything. Little things like fittings tend to add up. You can save yourself money by only cooling your GPU or your CPU then you can go for smaller res, pump, single fan rad, etc. Ultimately that might be a bad investment though because you will eventually want to WC everything and the up side is almost all of your kit will be re-usable in future systems. Most of the parts I've chosen are specifically selected to fit in this case.

I'm going all EK so prices will vary with manufacturer. From what I understand though, performance doesn't vary all that much between brands these days. Just go with what you like.

    The GPU block is $130.
The CPU block is $66-$96 depending on the version.
The Pump, reservoir, pump top and bracket combo is about $170.
    The radiator is $60.
    The fans are $7.
    Fittings are $5-$10/ea.
Tubing will probably be around $10.
    Coolant probably about $20.

wow and im JUST going to get the H100i this weekend lol... it's currently running comfy at 4.1Ghz on stock cooler LOL (a little noisy but get the job done).

i'm not planning a full standalone kit at this point, but will keep an eye on this thread for modding options... my PSU isn't modular so it's getting really cramped in the front there.

Even tho im not so much a performance guy these days (had my moments), im all for aesthetics... so might spend the money if it works with my mods.

I'd recommend a pair of fans to go with the H100i. The fans that come with it are horribly noisy. I upgraded to sp120 quiet editions and it made an enormous difference. Very much experienced buyers remorse over the H100i until I got those new fans. Now it's silent and it keeps my CPU at very reasonable temps running 24/7 at 4.5Ghz.

My WC odyssey will begin slowly as I purchase parts. In the mean time, I think I've sorted out my particular build. I want to keep working on the model/renders but I've been insanely busy the past couple of weeks. I at least know that the components I've chose will fit.. assuming I've done a good job measuring. My work contract is up this month so hey, at least I'll have something to do if I don't get renewed haha.

If cost were not an issue I'd go with EK's single-bay res/pump combo but unfortunately that thing costs in excess of $300.

Cabling and tubing is one of those things I'm just going to have to sit down and do for real. Modeling that aspect out with these space requirements seems like an exercise in frustration. I predict many cable ties and I might even have to go out and find short cables for the videocard and the 24 pin main.

I have a feeling I'll be making good use of many 90° fittings.

While I can fit the 140 Res in there, I think I'm going to stick with the 100ml. It will be easier to work with and I think the difference in coolant capacity won't have much of an effect on cooling performance.

OK So I'm kind of pushing into trying to get my renders really nice. Which is also a pain because minor little issues in my materials and whatnot mean having to re-do very lengthy renders. This following render has some issues with the colors but I wasn't really too concerned, thinking I would just render and fix it afterwards...

8 hours and 42 minutes later....

So I will start rendering on lower quality/draft settings then fixing stuff as I see fit and re-rendering on max settings. Overall I'm looking at >8 hours for a good render now.

Oh and status update:rock: I ordered my Yate Loon fans. They should arrive within days. Next payday I think I'll pick up the radiator.

    that looks pretty awesome.

im now actually also thinking of custom loop. so might be following your lead with my 250D as well. it's just H100i doesn't offer that much difference than air-cooler and it still sucks in dust as well. we'll see. hard to pick parts that can fit this little baby.

edit: anybody knows where to pick up WC parts in Canada?
edit: https://www.dazmode.com/store/product/ek_complete_watercooling_kit_h3o_supremacy_240_hfx_dual_rad/ that price tag... ouch! (and rad thickness)
