The case Im building utilizes water in a visual way ( ), but is not water cooled (yet). I need the water to be clear with no tint to it. My question is this: Is plain distilled water going to stay clear, and have no residue? At this point, it will have no contact with metal, so Im am not concerned with corrosion.
As long as the water remains clean, it should remain clear. If you are putting it into a sealed container it should be fine. If you wish to have a little extra "insurance", there are a couple chemicals you can use: bleach-smelly & may discolor disform your container humidifer bacteriostatic treatment-safe to inhale (no smell), should be fine with most any container water clarifier for fish aquariums-no smell, should be safe for all containers I've used all of the above in my old water cooling setup ("bong" type evaporative cooler) with success. I would definately recommend the humidifer stuff, it's probably the safest. You can pick it up at any drugstore/pharmacy or even WalMart. Hope this helps.
This humidifier stuff is colorless? My main concern is that it carries the colored light that I send through it without changing it. No pinks, greens, etc. While I am at it, and thinking for the future, when I convert this to a water cooled system, are there any antifreeze or water wetter products that are prefectly clear? Probably should be asking this in the other forum. Moderators, feel free to move it.
