I have a Coolermast HAF with all the parts listed below. I would like to watercool my CPU, GPU, and Northbridge. What pump, reservoir and rad would you recommend for the listed setup. Please be budget conscious when recommending as I do not have Bill Gates bank account. GPU - Swiftech MCW60 retail version (part #MCW60-R) GPU - Enzotech Sapphire Series SCW-Rev.A Extreme NB - are all NB waterblocks universal? Rad - Black Ice GT Stealth 240 X-Flow Radiator Res - Swiftech MCRES Micro Rev. 2 Small Form Factor / High-Flow Reservoir Pump - OCZ Hydro Pulse Water Pump Tubing - Tygon (how many feet do I need?)
I have that BI Stealth Rad, you may find you need high CFM fans (noisy) to keep your components cool. I didn't find mine particularly effective when cooling just an overclocked Q9650. I also have that swiftech GPU block and found that I need really thick o rings on the barbs/fittings to stop it leaking. I bought mine off ebay so it's possible you get the o rings supplied with a new one. As long as you have decent airflow you shouldn't need to watercool the Northbridge. I have that pump although it's branded a Phobya. I found it a bit noisy at 12v although I do run a quiet system. It's a lot quieter at 5v although it isn't supposed to start at that voltage. It's also possible it might fail sooner at such a low voltage, so I've read anyway. Whatever voltage you run it at you'll need to isolate it from the case with foam or something vibration absorbing. You might need about 1 meter of tubing.
I just need to get some kind of response on Northbridge waterblocks as i have no idea what to get. Are they all universal or is there a specific measurement I need to look for? (to fit my M4N78 Pro motherboard with a GeForce 8300 chipset) Thank you Elf. Did that pump provide enough flow to for the CPU/GPU configuration you had? Did you have a reservoir with it?
I don't detect any CPU temperature difference between running it at 12v or 5v. I use an EK-100 Res http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=135 You can get a Res for the pump though which I think is this one http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=1584
Swiftech do a universal waterblock for the northbridge. All though i`m not 100% sure if it supports the 8300 chipset.
Most fans have a "Dead Zone" where the air blows. The air wont blow in the middle but only around the area where the fins are. (on the fan) buy a rad shroud from frozen cpu.
I know but I wasn't able to fit a shroud due to lack of space. It's still a poor rad compared to full size ones.
@qoute: I tried ekwaterblocks.com configurator and they didn't have my modo or chipset listed so I guess I'll just go with luck until i find one that fits and hope for the best. And about the rad issue:I noticed on some project log threads that they built their own shroud using A.C. Ryan Modder's Mesh sold at www.frozencpu.com Use a Dremel tool and have a blast. Thank you for the info. You helped me a lot. Anything else i should know about water cooling?
@toxic Lemon: If you could google me some info that would be amazing in case you are bored at home or work. I just cant seem to find a solution for my NB. I am soon getting a quad core AMD Phenom and i really want to boost the OC values. The NB cooler would help a lot. It seems like all the parts I have aren't even recognized by the modding community. Hahaha.
For the restriction introduced by most NB coolers I'd just get a decent aircooled solution for the NB. For a super cheap shroud/dead spot eliminator just cut the centre out of a 120mm fan and screw it together. That's my solution for one of my rads.
