Another vote for a custom kit here - it lets you tailor it to your system cooling requirements and case size.

Apologies for hijacking this thread a bit :worried:

I'm thinking of maybe getting a watercooling kit myself when i build myself a new PC at the end of the month.
One thing worries me though: The PC will mostly never move, but once every 3-4 months me and my friends like to do a LAN party. How durable are watercooling kits when the PC is being transported (nothing more major than a 10min ride in the backseat/boot of a car, but possibly with the case on it's side)

Most loops can be made fairly durable, but it does take a little more work to do. I've done it, and my loop can cope with an hour + ride in the back of a car without being jostled too much (i.e. padded to stay upright).

All you need to do it is some worm-grips on your barbs, preferably on metal ones to make sure you can have maximum tension without a) cutting your tube and b) not crushing plastic barbs. Perfect-seal barbs are brilliant for this, as they have a nice flat bit for attatching the worm to. :)

Ive taken watercooled PC's to 2 Multiplay LANs now. As long as you are sure the connections are strong enough there is nothing to worry about. Either use worm clips like recommended above or if you are using smaller bore tubing i would go for compression fittings.

A good bumpy car ride also does wonders for getting all those little air bubbles out of your loop! :D

    Yes, I second that.

But I don’t think its fair to say, “Those koolance, gigabyte, thermaltake and others are all quite crappy.”
Because it really depends on what you want out of your water-cooling kit.
Basic kits are fine for beginners and for those who do not want to O/C their system.

But I do agree that for best performance, customization is the way to go.

The major manufacturers in my opinion are DangerDen, D-Tek, Swiftech and BeCooling
I also think that the Swiftech kits offer good value for money. :thumb:

Heh - BeCooling haven't been a "major" manufacturer for many years... their product lineup hasn't changed in ages... I'm not actually sure that they manufacture anything these days...
