this is from my non-responsive thread under "extreme cooling"

does anyone know where you can buy a waterwheel style fan like the aero7, but in a standard size? [such as 80 or 90mm square]. for me, this would be preferrable. getting rid of the blind-spot and having lots of air flow [90mm] could have great benefits. combining such a fan with the thermalright sp-97 could be circumstance for great cooling with low noise.

    email me back, jack

but i have heard nothing, so i decided to post here and expand into the realm of "no such device."

in the event that there exists no waterwheel style fan with a standard base size, i would consider modding my existing aero7 fan to fit a nicer heatsink. what results do you think one would find by attaching an aero7 [cited as available in 70x70x70mm size or 80x80x70mm, which i dont understand because i measured mine and it seemed to come out to be 65mm. i'll need to check again when i'm next at my dad's house.] to heatsinks such as the thermalright sp-97 or the swiftech fan with the massive amount of attached pins?

You can buy the aero fan seperately if that's what you're after. Might be hard to get so have a look around.

yep, comes in 70mm and 80mm. but the actual fan is the same AFAIK, its only the mounting at the bottom thats a different size.

well, now on to the more important point

what results do you think one could expect with a fan like this on a nice heatsink like the sp-97?

it does do pretty well on its plain copper fin heatsink. i get temps at about 49C now that summer has hit [and i dont have air conditioning]. my barton 2500+ is overclocked to a 2800 currently, and my steady case temp recently is about 25C, though i cant say for sure... perhaps its closer to 29C [its hard to remember]

How long is a peice of string? Seriously it will be different for everybody because of the countless factors that can affect it. Things like ambient temp, case airflow, case temp etc. The only way to find out for sure would be to try it and see.

yes... how long is a piece of string... *looks around*

i'm not asking what temperature i would get, thats an idiotic question, but i'm asking for the opinion of the people, wondering if it you think it could be a powerful cooler

    undestand?

    but anyways..
deltas have no "blind spot" as you put it

deltas are made so that they have no blind spot in the middle.. even though they look like they would have one.

second... yes they are loud, but they are the best fan you could buy :)
