Here's the dilemma, I need a way of installing XP on this computer, problem is I don't have the right setup disk, I just have an ISO file of the XP OEM. I don't have a burner, so burning a cd is out of the question. USB installation is out of the question because the computer doesn't support booting from USB device.

I was thinking of a way, would it be possible to load the system files onto the computer hard drive, then start the installation process via floppy? Or could I install XP from networked virtual drive?

    Help appreciated!

It's tricky, but I think it can be done. Here's something I found online, not sure if it'll work.

You need to put the I386 directory from the XP CD on another computer and share the directory on the network. Then, you need to format the broken computer with some form of FAT filesystem. Next, you need to track down a boot disk that will allow you to access the network and the shared folder. Run WINNT.EXE.

Instructions on creating the boot disk can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q142857&FR=1

However, I can't promise that'll work and if it doesn't, well, CD-RW drives are less than $20 these days. If the computer isn't worth that, surely it's not worth a copy of Windows?

It's not my computer, it's a girls computer that I'm fixing for her. I torrented a copy of Windows XP OEM because the product key is on her computer, and it's not illegal because it's for her & she owns the product key. I'm going to stop talking right now, I took a strong painkiller for my wisdom teeth so I don't feel like typing anymore, lol. Any more ideas are appreciated.

Fake Edit: I don't have time to buy a cdrw drive, nor do I want to, I want to get this PC back to her when her new HDD arrives from Newegg.
