Reverbs are widely notorious for going pop (or actually, slurp as the hydraulics suck air in via the spring) and sticking at the bottom of their travel. Also, the remote buttons snap at only a small provocation.

They're very refined, but they're the high maintenance girlfriends of seat posts. For all their clunky industrial nature I have a T-Mars from 2012 and a Gravity Dropper from 2007 and neither have need rebuilding in that time.

True, with the Tmars though ive not had much luck, the inner post twists and I snapped one of the mounts over tightening it as the seat rail kept sliding back. Ive kept the "enduro Collar" as the call it handy in my ride pack incase it goes on me.

    "Husband and Wife Christmas Shopping
A couple were in a busy shopping center just before Christmas. The wife suddenly noticed that her husband was missing and as they had a lot to do, so she called him on the mobile.
The wife said "Where are you, you know we have lots to do."
He said "You remember the jewelers we went into about 10 years ago, and you fell in love with that diamond necklace? I could not afford it at the time and I said that one day I would get it for you?"
Little tears started to flow down her cheek and she got all
    choked up…
"Yes, I do remember that shop." she replied.
"Well I am in the bike shop next door to that.""

    Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone could reccomend me a new lock for my Road Bike. Its normally parked in the house, but I'm going to start commuting to the City on it if the weather is fair enough.

Its a 2009 Trek 1.2 Double, so not a particualrly valuable bike, and I've normally just made do wit £20 Abus locks from Evans, but does anyone have any decent reccomendations for £30-40?

I use a magnum Dlock but also one of the big cable loops as well to go through my wheels. They curl up fine in a back pack. Think you can get a lock set for just over £40 from them

That's the one I use, I picked it because of the Gold rating and it was on the insurance list, along with a cable through the front wheel. Feels sturdy enough and I've still got the same bike after 18 months of commuting :thumb:

So I've just bought my first hometrainer. I'm training for a half Ironman in August, and the stress on my knee is just too much.

It's nice to be able to swap the training for a bit, but I'm lacking some good programs to ride. Anyone have some inspiration to share? I was thinking something like 15 minutes warm-up, 20 minutes steady pace, 10 minutes max pace, and then 15 minutes slow.

Another vote for Kryptonite here - they do mini versions if you want shorter and more compact. I actually had my last bike stolen while it was locked up with a Kryptonite Flex Mini. However the thieves actually cut through the bike rack as opposed to the lock. I assume they were going to angle grind it off later. I went out and bought another immediately!

My average run on a spin bike looks like this.

5 mins warm up (2min no resistance, 2 mins increasing resistance every 30 secs to 1 min high resistance)
5 mins hard pedalling at medium resistance (aim for 100 rpm)
3 mins standing climb (very high resistance)
2mins recovery (keep pedalling no resistance)
15min ascending pyramids (3x rep that goes 4 mins increasing resistance every 1min from medium resistance to very hard, then 1 minute sprinting flat out with low resistance, then reset. This bit's hard)
    2 mins recovery
    3 mins standing climb
    5 mins 30 second sprints/30 seconds rest.
5mins warm down (warm up in reverse)

Get off the bike, ten minutes stretching arms then legs.

    Collapse in a heap.

If you really go at max pace, 1 minute intervals will be plenty. 10 mins will just leave you unconscious!

I might try that out next time. Looks like a solid spinning program :) When I say max, I obviously don't mean 95%+ of your HR, but more like 90% . My mistake

    I did the following yesterday

30 minutes warm-up/low intensity at around 70% of HR
    5 minutes of 90%
    5 minutes 75%
    5 minutes 90%
    7 minutes of 75%
    3 x 2 minutes of increasing intensity
and last 5 minutes of spinning to lower my pulse again

Felt pretty good, but yeah. Still need to figure out what's the best for me

    Hi all

Fans who follow my posts will know I was enquiring about exercise bikes in the weightloss thread, but I'm beginning to reconsider getting an indoor bike trainer instead. Initially I dismissed the idea due to increasing the wear on my bike, but as I've used my bike so little in recent years that's a bit silly really.

So I jumped on Amazon and searched for bike trainers and every one that comes up seems to have a 4-5 star rating, which isn't making choosing very easy.

So I'm looking for recommendations. I figure one with variable magnetic resistance is better than one that isn't, but wouldn't really know either way. I guess my price range is £0-100.

Also, when using a trainer, what is the best way to track the work you're doing? Do any trainers have electronics in them to communicate with a smartphone, or do I need something separate to attach to the rear wheel to do that? Is there a recommended app for bike trainers, or should I be looking at a standalone bike computer instead?

    Thank you

Boring. Go out and get muddy.

Anyway, anyone used the cycle to work scheme? Also been eying up an upgrade as I am eligible for it at work, has anyone tried a Whyte t129?

Is what I am considering Obviously with new tax rules and whatnot allows people to top up the thing so they can get more spendy things without having to save up faaausannnds for ridiculously over engineered mountain bikes.

I am unapologetic for my impression of a southeastern person.

I've just ordered a new bike using a CYcle2Work, I was limited to what i could order though due to how much (or how little) i earn.

Still, a 2016 Cube Attention should be on my doorstep on Monday :thumb:

I was cycling past some perverts (lycra'd up roadies) the other day and thought, All of those hard tails must hurt your back end and limit your traction on a day of hopping pot holes.

This is coming from a full sus guy hauling 15kgs of bike around London...

Why aren't people embracing over engineering?

New brakes (Saint), new drivetrain (XT 1x10 11-42), services for suspension, a bloody good clean, touch up paint and some fresh helicopter tape.

If it weren't for the dents and the manky saddle/grips it would almost look new, almost. Taken two weeks ago before I went off to Wales and smashed it around Coed-y-Brenin for two days, it doesn't look half as nice now.
