Ok so 165mm eye to eye is correct and the Stroke is around 50mm. Sorry all I have is a crappy old ruler to hand lol

That works. I've got a shock in the house, let me check that tonight, if not I'll pull some things up on eBay

But essentially you're looking for a "165x50 rear shock".

Are you on the Bit-Tech Discord? Might be worth talking on there and pinging over a few photos as eyelets and bushing are the next thing.

@Pookie Sorry, the shock I have in the house is too big, it's at least 185x65.

I've spent about half an hour searching for a suitable sized shock and I'm struggling. Everything with the correct eye to eye has too short of a stroke (35mm not 50mm), meaning your bike will technically have compressed it's suspension 15mm at the shock and will change its handling slightly. Or has the correct stroke of 50mm but closer to 190mm eye to eye, which you would have to compress to get it to bolt into the bike and would then reduce the travel of the shock available.

And all of this is before we've even checked if you've standard bushings to take a normal shock, though pics of your bike on the brand website appear to show a standard shock.

Well measurements were almost right, the stroke could be 45mm. I mean it's not like it is broken, I would just have liked a lockout option that's all. Maybe I will swing in to my local bike shop and let them advise :)

Swapped out the float X performance and Fox 38 Performance for a Float X2 Factory and a Fox 38 Factory. The decals are crap, supposed to be silver gold, new decals should be here in a couple of days though, that brown is gross!

Needs a new seatpost too. You can't Kashima 2 out of 3.

It’s got a one up seat post as the OEM cube one isn’t great. The Oneup is typically better than the fox ones that’s the issue. It would be pretty but I’d potentially be compromising. Having said that, I may be able to pick one up for about £225… wee shall have to see.

T-Type is now available with cable, happy days!! I’ll be getting myself the 90. Sod going wireless.

Also, if I build up the Scout again and run it on 29s front and rear, what do you think it would be worth to sell on?

We would be talking basic dropper, nuke proof seat and bars, perhaps a fox 36 rythem with SLX drivetrain and code R slowers. I might throw on a basic set of DMR pedals too.

@Cookie Monster Ok ok.. I don't think the bike looks great with the blue grips and seat, it clashes somehow maybe because it isn't gloss black so I have gone to Deity grips and an Ergon SM Enduro I had kicking about that was going to go on the Status originally but was swapped out to the Burgtec (because I am a name whore)... It look loads better and the saddle actually fits me better, should probably have tried it first as I haven't had the best luck with finding a comfy saddle.

I've also ordered a Fox dropper with the Kashima coat, don't judge. Can keep the one up for spare for when this needs servicing which according to reddit will be every 5 minutes lol. I need to stop spending and just enjoy what I have haha!

And so it begins. Bosch Gen5 gets bump to 100nm and 750w up from 85nm and 600w. All of those with the 600w battery will be kicking themselves no doubt.

This puts it 1nm behind the new Specialized motor and 84w above and with the new e-bike regs coming in that limit the peak to 750w I think we will only now see refinement rather than evolution. All those DJI motors will be getting a retune down from 850w to 1000w sustained to see a drop to 750w. Ouch.

In other news, rental Revo-f pedals in alugold coming shortly, can’t wait for those and I’m selling the status and stripping it all back to stock. This emtb is getting all of my use and the status is just sat doing nothing losing money. Scout too but I’ll cross that bridge at another time, it’s too light and too easy to just ride to get rid of after some serious thought and consideration.

When are the rest of you going to start with the bike updates and builds again? It’s been rather quiet in here…

I haven't really done anything with my bike in a long time in terms of building or upgrading - when I put this bike together in 2020 it was intended to be as much of a forever bike as possible, and I've been really pleased with it so no need to tweak much at all. That said, I really really really need to redo the bar tape because it's utterly minging, and I could also do with bleeding the brakes at some point :D
