    I did a thing.

i decided to take the XT derailleur and shifter off of the ONE77 and put it on the Scout. I’ve also started taking the nice bits off of the Status and reverting it back to stock where I can as I’ve not used it at all for months! The Scout is now 100% XT inc brakes and it just feels like a solid quality bike which I’ve made more “XC” like for going out with the kids on easy rides. The child seat now also fits due to a few other changes.

So how do I now use the one77? Well, I get a bargain SRAM transmission for £999 instead of like £1600.

it’s been fitted and it’s doing exactly what I need it to as well as everything I don’t.

What does that mean? Well.. it’s too slow to shift BUT I probably won’t care as the upcoming power increase will mean I’ll be using less gears anyway so it is what it is. Secondly, I was on my 3rd chain since March. That’s wild. This should save the chains and save the bank balance as I can’t afford £300 worth of chains a year and I’ll be damned if I am continuing to pay out for them or have my day ruined with a snap.

    Bikes are expensive.
Pics to follow when there’s day light again. :)

Currently working on a e-bike project. Bought a bike with a frame I liked, bought a Tongsheng tsdz2b motor and a battery, and am now in the process of putting it together.
The motor is 36V 250W and the speed will be limited to 25kph so that I don't need a license plate nor helmet. Battery is 22.5ah.
The kit cost 510 euros off of aliexpress and came from Poland.

    Here's the bike:

Here's the battery rack on the bike. It's waaaay bigger than I expected and probably did not need such a big battery, but here we are now.

I had to ghetto-rig the rack on with some L brackets because the stock rear-rack (I don't have it) attaches to bracket perpendicular to the frame and that's not what the kit expected.

Here's the ****ing bottom bracket that drove me mad. It looks like a regular 22 spline, but the teeth are longer than a regular 22 spline, so no tools fit. Fortunately it's made of plastic, I got rid of it with a hammer and a flat head screwdriver.

It was rusty in there, cleaned it up with a brass wire brush and WD40.

Today I got round to installing the motor, but this is as far as I've gotten.

This is a slow moving project as my motivation for life in general is... eh.

may or maynot be the place to ask

having only ever ridden a BMX bike in my childhood till early 20s. i know next to nothing about cycles with gears.
kids have a cheapo halfords bike and the chain is all mangled and out of the sprockets. is it as complicated as it looks to replace?

Without pictures it's impossible to tell. Depending on how bad it is you may need specific tools to pull cranks and freewheel/ cassette off, and to split the chain.

If you don't know what you're doing you probably wont need these tools again or the hassle. Take it to a bike shop.

Or you can get chain tools from Park Tools and something called a Missing Link (make sure it's for the right speed of chain though ie. 11 speed chains are thinner than 9 speed, becuase they have to run thinner through the drivetrain to locate over a larger number of sprockets on the same width cassette, give or take). Then with spare missing links, you can always fix a broken chain, even on the road if you need to.

Hey all, can anyone recommend a good/effective (and not too pricey) portable/battery powered electric pump?

The wife had one that she really liked, an autder - looked like a giant duracell battery! but cant find it online/nor find anycomparison to their current models :(

She replaced it with something cheap and cheerful from the Rainforest, but it struggles to achieve the necessary pressures of the tyres. It used a full battery charge just getting one of the kids bike tyres up to 60psi :/

I don't know how good they are, but we are selling the Truflo Compressor daily and ordering them in 25s from the supplier.

One of the lads has been using the sample one around the shop and it appears to get about 6 tires up to 80PSI before needing a charge.

    Thats the badger.

For clarity, I believe it's 6 road (700x25) tyres to 80PSI, but I've not used it to confirm.
