I bought a PS2 just so I could play Rez and Ico. :D Also in my collection is Wipeout. Next up are Shadow of the Collossus and definitely We Love Katamari. It's what computer gaming should be all about.

Just wanted to State my Opinion... I think that PS2 for one is Complete Garbage, No GFX, Online is Terrible, Controller has a Weird feel to it and over all the Design is Really Poor.

As for Katamari here is my Question. Ive watched all the Videos on it before when it was in the first Stages of Development and to me it looks Childish and non Graphical. is it?

    lol

Nexxo - I have the Rez Trance Vibrator too. A great quirky investment for an excellent game like Rez. Ahem - http://www.gamegirladvance.com/archives/2002/10/26/sex_in_games_rezvibrator.html

Well yes, it is childish, but then there's no fun in being grown up really is there? (what do you want, a bill paying simulator? ;)), and if by non graphical you mean cartoon like, then yes, as you can see from the screenshots in the article, the graphics are cartoony.
Depends what you like really. I like the cell-shaded-ness of Zelda-Windwalker, or Katimari, as much as I like the photo-quality of, say, HL2 or FEAR.

Mind you, if you hate the PS2 so much, why bother reading a review of a game that's only on the PS2? :p

Moreover, (Ck)Vegeta why bother commenting on it? :eyebrow:

Probably will buy this. I barely use my PS2 any more, but it looks like the sort of game that you can relax with , rather than being on edge all the time.

Agreed, Bindi. That's why games like Katamari, Ico, Okami, Psychonauts and so forth are so important I think. They're stand out examples of the developers taking a bit of a chance and time after time they don't get the attention they deserve but in a Tarantino-esque way the ideas and innovations can still end up trickling down more mainstream games. I think its sooo important to big up (did I just say that?) these games.

Also Katamari in particular does bring up the issue of games getting darker and more 'urban' whatever that's meant to mean. I don't like that horseradish stuff being added to every piece of sushi I eat and I don't need Uzi's added to every game I play. I really like the Blue Sky in Games campaign over at UK: Resistance. We can make the sun shine again! :D

this is one of those instant classic sort of games. on the graphics side I would just like to say that it picks a very distinct and unique style and sticks with it, sure it's not photo realism but its not generic grungey buildings and dark alleys and what other video games have panda's dancing?
gameplay side it's a spin on the old rolling marble through maze games, but it's very fresh and doesn't emulate much. also this was a game that everything from me the hardcore fps player down to my friends who never play anything could pick up. My friends and I went through the entire game in 2 player mode and there was never a skill handi-cap and it just spawned sooo much non competitive and relaxing fun.

oh and finally the best cousin was the fatty with king mask and horsey combination, or the tripointed cousin with a mini tripointed cousin on his head

Hmm... looks worth renting if nothing else, and I generally hate PS2 games (though in all honesty, I've been getting my FFX/FFX-2 on recently). I doubt we have it though, and the owner just went off to the bahamas or something for two weeks, so no new games till then if we don't :( That's what you get for working at a video store with all of six employees, I guess. But hey, free rentals and I can pick up Tuesday's releases the Friday before they're out (just watched and burned Domino :p)

Looks downright fun, though. Just that stupid pointless humor... you know, that stuff that's almost as funny as watching someone take a kick to the groin. Yeah, nothing beats sadistic humor, but this looks like it comes close.

Here's a bit of side-story for anyone who's interested. The creator of the game was more or less bullied into working on the sequel: http://www.ferrago.com/story/6862

Also, I wish they'd put the first game on the disc as well, or perhaps done a double-disc "deluxe" set. The prices on the PAL version of We Love Katamari, however, are appalling. The first game sold for US$20. Why do we only get the somewhat half-baked sequel for more than twice that?

    Nezuji :)
