Linux ***** Web/FTP server!!

    I tried to install redhat linux 9 on my P II 233. (I want top use this as a Web/FTP server so that people could have a website with no ads. I think that it is just to ***** slow! Every time I try it, it just gets stuck rightbefore it formats the hdd!:waah:

    Try using an older version of it.. Newer distrobutions are for more advanced computers, not older ones.

    And wrong forum... Heh.

    possibly try an older version. Mandrake may be a bit better for you or perhaps try slackware (harder to use) or Debian 3.0

    Tried 6.2...

    I tried 6.2, but I can't even boot from the CD - Rom! PLEASE HELP ME!!!:rock: :rock:

    Use a floppy that will then boot from the CD? Set the device to 1st in the BIOS boot priority?

    IIS...

    Thank god for IIS, (I installed XP, and I am currently trying to host it through IIS. Thanks though.....:lol:

    he got his AMD Duron @ 700MHz to work as the server.

    I would recomend you try somthing like Slackware or FreeBSD these make great servers and are extremely scaleable. I run FreeBSD and it does a great job.
