Hey all, I can't figure out what I am doing wrong, but here's the problem...

I am running a Centos server and using webmin I tried to set up Samba users and folders via Webmin. I can't get webmin to add Samba users. If I create regular users then convert them to Samba users or sync Samba / regular users it seems to get the config file right, but I have no access from the LAN. permission denied, yada yada.

If I go terminal from my XP box and do smbpasswd and add the user the rest of what I did in Webmin works.

I spent a couple of hours messing about and got nowhere with Webmin adding Samba users. Was pretty cheesed when 3 seconds of command line fixed what the whole point of Webmin was all about. :wallbash:

Is Webmin broken in Centos? or, more likey, did I just bork it up.... :D

I never had good experiences with webmin... Really don't recommend it. Like you said, 3 seconds of CLI action are just the same. If you need to add a lot of users, just write a addition script.

Sorry, didn't get back right away. I don't understand why something that should be simple in Webmin got messed up. I thought I would try it, hoping it would help with the stuff you do rarely and can't remember the exact syntax. Not that adding users was hard to remember, but you know what I mean.

Well I guess it is back to man and "Linux in a Nutshell" via putty.
