Windows Webserver on 2K server

I just tried the ftp and I got this message that says "Microsoft FTP service (version 5.0)" is that what you are using?

edit: anonymous user couldn't get in

 

also make sure you have your apache pages there

default page loaded

X:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache\htdocs\index.html

 

Yer im using the ftp server on win2k pro server so im guesisn thats what it is. erm.... well thats gettin sumwhere. Right, well when i try it locally it gives me the login box for username and password. however through the net i dont get it. Do you get the login thing for it???? If so, try username "rae" and password "pepsi" Thanks. Oh by the way that wont be an account for verylong so dont get any ideas anyone else tht there is a few gigs of ftp sittin there.
Don't worry about there being no apache or website sittin up there i dont have the service running at the moment because im working on that at the moment so it won't be there. i will just do it the same way ftp is workin when its done to get http.

Im going locally to the net then back to my pc and im getting errors. NOOOOOOO Arrrgh, how annoying, Connection with the server could not be established??? Do you reckon its stopping loopbacks, but it shouldnt be reading it as a loopback connection though. ARRGH how annoying.

Right well then i know that it works from remote pcs, but not from mine tht is a mere 3 meters from the server. Im not too bothered cas i will just share the folder on the network. Hmmm still a bit annoying. Oh well, thanks very much for all your help.

No i think i will change it. Well i havnt set up my server for dial in so you cant get all my shared folders with mounds of videos and mp3s. or anything just to a 2.5 gig ftp drive. Which i am gonna give full priveledges to me only anyway, so i may aswell elave it. i mean you will be able to see my maths coursework when i stick it up there from school but i doubt thats going to be of any interest to you.
Does anyone know if my domain user rights to files and stuff will work through ftp or if it just shares the whole folder???? hmmmm...... im gonna make a folder that the account you have should not be able to access, can you please see if you gan open it. Thanks

Any ideas in a 2k server how to allow one login full ftp access and another only download access????? because that would be good for all my annoying friends wanting various things but also keeping my more anarchaiac friends at bay. how old r u by the way, im 15

well if you have your active directory done you can just add a user with only read permissions

 

AD is all setup, where bouts is the FTP priveledges tab???? is it jst sumewhere in user properties??? cas i was lookin for it earlier.
