Real Estate Above Albuquerque Blog This is for a client I'm helping with a basic wordpress blog. (my first real attempt at using wordpress) What do you think about the overall layout and flow? Please be polite, and look at this from the perspective of average home-buyers. (meaning we are hoping to not just reach geeks in their youth, but to also show mom & dad the neighbourhood they might like moving into) I'm not overly excited about the design, so it will be changing throughout the next few weeks. Any tips on what specifically is bad? (too much grey, not enough shiny graphics, etc) Thanks!
it's boring, but i suppose for a real estate blog you don't want anything too flashy. not really too much to comment on. i would definitely get a better quality image for the header though. higher resolution/clearer picture, and do a better cropping job on the top.
If you want to attract the eye of the average user then use bright, natural colours. Don't use grey on a Real Estate site - you're trying to sell "dream homes" not worn down castles.
Thanks for the tips, while basic, they definitely help. We actually went away from rounded corners, at the request of the client. Maybe we'll throw a nice horizontal gradient down the body of the page, and put a solid color background for the main page. I'm also thinking of taking a photo of a New Mexico sunset and grabbing some bright colors from it for the theme of the site. Definitely agree on the header needing to be a higher res pic. What about cropping should I change? (The top crop line closely follows the mountain, or were you saying to include more trees, fewer trees, or something else?) Thanks for the tips! I'm not used to doing basic sites that are more content than flash, but I must admit I actually like it... almost what the web was made for. (Putting content over form)
