I've been working on a website for a short time now and I sent it live last week. Over the next few months i'll be tasked in making it better to use. I was wondering if i could enlist some members of the bit-tech community to take a look and let me know their thoughts on the site. What i would like to know are the following; Your thoughts on the design How easy is it for you to use the site? Is it intuitive? The website will be going through a re-design, what do you think should stay and go? Your overall feeling of the site. Any other comments. I am running this survey with friends / family and as many people as possible to improve the UX and design as much as possible. The first reaction is it's too busy for most and could do with more white-space. Any help would be very much appreciated. Website: http://www.getkazood.com Again, thanks for your time.
The home page is a bit busy and is almost the same as your product page. Maybe you could just use the top row of information (promotions/specials) and the Right side (i.e. services, security, contact info) on the first page and leave the testimonials at the bottom. Not sure that you need a home button and the Click on Banner at the top which takes you the same place i.e. the first page. Not sure there is a need for 2 buttons to contact the company on the front page either. "the latest news" page looks like it should be the "about us" page i.e. the company history. Not trying to be critical so please don't take it that way Just a few suggestions that hopefully help.
As you already mentioned, the home page looks very busy. There is no central point of focus, and your eyes are pulled to all corners of the page at once. First of all, I think there needs to be a little more hierarchy in the layout of the page, right now it's just a stack of boxes. The grey “info” blocks definitely need their own column, stacking them together with the roller banner ad is a bit confusing. Separate them from the rest of the page with extra whitespace maybe. Secondly, I think the “specials” box could be bigger, like three rows wide and a bit taller. Maybe incorporate the “leaflets” and “roller banners” blocks so all the important information you want the customer to know is within one big element that stands out from the rest and is the first thing a viewer will see. Thirdly, all products below the big box seem to be in no particular order, which makes things seem a bit chaotic. Also, 22 different boxes with products is far too much for just the home page, especially since some of the articles are very alike. You could try putting them in a few simple categories like stands&displays, paper-stuff, etc… which transport you to a page with a more elaborate list. The blog, testimonials and clients segments are a nice touch, so definitely keep those. …That's about all that came to mind when looking at the page. Hopefully it can help you somewhat.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I will keep these and put the oppinions forward for when we get started on the revamp. I agree with the homepage being a mess as the boss wanted them in a specific order of which products he wanted to sell more predominantly. Personally i think it should all be in alphabetical order. It was mentioned but ignored as a suggestion. This time however i have more control over the design of the site and its content. I want to make things a lot simpler for the users of the site and possibly give less options as joe bloggs aren't educated in print as much as we are.
