Alright bit-tech, it's coming up on the Summer season when everyone wants to look their best. Not all of us are in the best of shape (round does not count!) and I challenge those of you that are on the heavier side to get off your duffs, eat better, and exercise! I've always had a very high-carbohydrate and high sugar-sugar diet but the physical activity of my work always caused me to maintain the same weight. I wasn't in the best of shape then but I could get around just as well as most of the fit people. Of course I wasn't able to get out there and run without getting tired easily, but I was able to carry around heavy loads and climb up and down utility poles with no problems. Unfortunately, I broke my foot in January and wasn't very mobile up until a couple weeks ago. During the course of my four months of inactivity, I managed to pack on a whopping 25lbs because of the crappy diet that I had. However, I'm back on my feet and back to being active once again and now it's time to drop those pounds (or kilograms) and then some! I started a low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet almost two weeks ago and I'm already feeling much better! Too keep myself in check, I'm going to post my progress here every first of the month and then again at the middle of the month. My peak weight during the past four months (and during my whole life!) was 258lbs. Current stats are: Height - 6'/182cm Weight - 243lbs/110.2kg So join me guys, if you're up to it, and keep a log with me. Ninja edit - Check out the documentary Fat Head. It's full of all kinds of awesome information.
Go Phil! I lost 16KG (35lb) in 6 months last year so I'm feeling all smug and will happily keep you in check I'd recommend www.traineo.com for tracking stuff Also www.fridgegraph.com for logging / sharing graphs of progress If you (or anyone) feeling like straying beyond mere diet and into "training" then I'd strongly recommend a quality Heart Rate Monitor. Polar is good (and web-enabled on some models) but if you want GPS for jogging / running then Garmin is a good choice. Good luck!
