So i recently installed windows XP and this issue is driving me nutty. When ever i tried to run the nvidia installation program from the desktop it would say the download is corrupted. If i ran it from the root of C:\ it runs fine. Any ideas ?

full file name length perhaps? I've had similar problems in the past with file names which ended up longer than windows could cope with, usually from zip files to the desktop though.

    C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Desktop\nvidia\working dir\installer.exe <--- too long?
    c:\nvidia\working dir\installer.exe <---- much shorter

possibly but i was having trouble with it on xp or vista. I think i am going to try reinstalling XP without my 3ware raid card. I have a sneaking suspicion it may be either that or that damned samsung drive i have in it right now. Since Sp3 wouldn't install and i think it's fubar'd my insntall.
