I;m running a DFI Lanparty UT NF3-250GB board and using the onboard sound over Digital.

It runs perfectly in windows, but in Ubuntu it doesn't consistently work.

If I use Gaim, those sounds play fine, but youtube videos and other stuff doesn't!

    Any ideas?

Is it just youtube videos that don't work, or is it stuff like media players too?
If it's just youtube, what browser are you using?

It was everything, but now it's just youtube/all flash. Using Firefox 2.0.0.3

Try to sudo alsaconf. You DO have the newest version of Flash, correct?

I can't quite remember what I had to do, but it was something like
    "aoss opera"
from a terminal, and it forced opera to open with alsa-oss.
You could try "aoss firefox" (or whatever the command for firefox is)

I gave up with it, Linux support for devices has proven to have failed again where Windows succeeds.

How about trying 'apt-get install alsaconf' and if that fails 'apt-cache search alsaconf' rather than giving up because you don't have the app preinstalled.

Tried both off those with Glider before hand. Sorry but untill Linux can give support as easily as Windows it won't gain ground.

It's not Linux that's not giving support, it's the hardware manufacturers not opening their drivers.
