Well, after being on hold for 41 minutes - I've finally got it resolved!

They've graciously decided to send me a replacement - but they where going to send it via post so I wouldn't recieve it until monday. When I asked if they couldn't courier it to me so I could get it tommorow, they said that they'd have to charge me for it.

"Think Happy thoughts GOO, She knows not what she says.... She's an innocent, and to slay her slowly would be wrong"

It took the 'I'd like to speak to manager' threat and cataloging all my calls to her to get them to courier it to me for no charge. So hopefully I'll have a GF4 on the doorstep tommorow

I'd just like to say that I will not be using Watford Elctronics ever again, And would advise every other brit on the board to do likewise. Very eager to take your money, but try and get some help / service from them? Pah!

    TTFN,

    GOO

/me goes to sit in a darkened room to calm down....

Im afraid most companies are like that nowdays, BTopenworld wont even let you speak to a supervisor, they say they aint available which is bollocks. If you want a fair view on how poor they are visit www.adslguide.org.uk and check the isp rating. Oh and my advice is to stay away from simply computers too.

Maybe we could have a poll - top 5 worst retailers! See who out there likes to take your money and then not give a toss when stuff goes wrong.
I think I can guess who would top GOO's list

When my dad was lecturing in leeds. he was doing event management and the students had to **** off somewhere and do a year with a company. they came back and wrote about their expereince, and some had gone to America and worked in the big hotels like marriot, sheriton, hilton.

And they had like a flow chart of what to say to a customer.

Oh yeah - that's pretty normal in the service industry and call centers.

It's really obvious that the guys at the other end of the phone are reading from a script as well...

"Hello I'm XXXXXX from YYYYYYY Services, and wondered if you had a few moments to discuss an exciting new service for your ZZZZZZZ card"

    You know what I mean....

I once coded a system that prompted the agents at our call center with what questions / products to sell a customer depending on what the customer had done in the past. It was basically a dynamic sales script!

The whole "flowchart" thing is really common, especially in tech support (be it retail or corporate.) When I worked for a really large hospital we were looking at buying a cool tech support suite that would essentially guide the helpdesk operator through asking the right questions, and modified what the next question would be based upon previous answers, they were kinda cool I guess.

They suck when you try to call ATT Broadband to explain that the line level is low causing your cable modem to drop offline, you know it's the upstream level because the low numbered channels are grainy on the TV. Yet they STILL insist on going through control panel settings and stupid stuff. Mainly it's because the first level tech support monkeys wouldn't have a clue what to ask without the prompts. Second level is better, I've talked to a supervisor of the second level techs more than once in the last month, so I'm pretty familiar with their procedures by now :)

I think that this would be agood idea - The best and worst retaillers there are, along the lines of the adslguide.org 'rate your isp'.

It would help a lot of people, not just us modders.

I guess that this wouldn't be possible here, as the polling system doesn't work that way.
