(that was sarcastic ) Well, thanks to everyone here my vocabulary is shot. I now tend to spell most words the british way without even thinking about it (i.e. using "ou" instead of "o" and "le" instead of "el") And I'm about to take a writing class in college too :cries:
Well colour me chuffed, old bean. May that not put a chink in your armour for the writing class. What What. I'll go the other way to offset it: Gee, I heard some guys broke into a diner two blocks away from our apartment last fall, they totally burglarized the place already.
Well you Americains and your *******ize version of our language have made us spell program instead of programme and the adverts now state color instead of colour. So I believe you may explain to your tutor if you fail, that you are speaking proper English and that they should re-grade you accordingly. If that doesn't work either a bribe or violence will probably work. But it does seem that the Americain version of English is simplified. http://www.spellingsociety.org/pubs/journals/jsss-1997-1/usukspell.shtml
i cant spell any way so it dont bother me any way shape or form but i will say i was baught up spelliin british english and not american

Nah - not picking on ya. One of my Best mate's dyslexic, and so are both his sons (apparently it's heriditary).
nowt wrong with dyslexics, although i've always thought it rather unfair to call their condition by a name that is quite difficult to spell! damn the doctors and stewe151 - I'm glad that we have a good influence on you. Now only if we could explain to the people who make programming languages that it's colour and not color
My pa and my brother are Dyslexic, don't let it hold you back, my pa's a succesful businessman. P.S. I gotta do this.... what does DNA stand for? . .. . . .. . . .. . . .. . . .. . . .. . . .. . . .. . . .. . . .. . . .. . National Dyslexic Association
I'm rogered which ever way I go. I went to high school in England, and university over here in Texas. I have an accent that is just to the East of greenland, I spell words in a mix of English and American spelling, I like American and British comedy, and I like Euro-style cars I'm buggered as they say. The biggest problem is to avoid the Texas "i" sound. Like the word "fine" becomes "faain" and is really hard to not pick up cheers, S.
that's funny essjaytee, I was born in Georgia, moved to Texas, and now live in South Carolina (all hillbilly states)... people here say that I don't have an accent. I have noticed however that I pick up southern words.. My wife cracks up every time she hears me struggle with the word "mill". We never used that word when I was growing up, I picked up here and it comes out "oh, that is located down by Johnson's meeeyall?" I have to conciously correct myself before it comes of my mouth or drive her to the hospital so they can put her on oxygen.
We don't have these "high schools" you attended.. I'm sure we call them Secondary and 6th Form, you traitor..
lol. shoot me now. I went to Holy Family Secondary school in Carlton, N. Humberside (at the time) and to sixth form at Selby college (fine center of learning and alcoholism) But, I do remember calling it "high school" cos my friends all went to "Selby High"
dude you're sooo wrong around where i live there is Herne Bay High, Canterbury High etc... they're all the dump schools basically.... i went to a grammar school i feel so elitist kent of course being one of the few places that retain the 11+ (if not the only place)
I call it football...I mean you play it with your FOOT! Why wouldn't you call it football? Silly Americans....
