That should powerful enough. If i were you and wanted to save alot of headaches. Download a free PBX software called Trix Box. It installs really easily and has a very slick web interface. Worked great for me. Oh and it is based on asterix i believe.

    Well that depends.

If all your doing is VOIP calls and use your VOIP service for making calls to POTs lines then all you need is a network card. If you want to connect it to your phone line then you will need a phone line card.

The Trixbox can connect to any SIP enabled VOIP device softphone or hardphone.

You just need to configure your trunks, etc. If you want people to call in then you can either transfer your current phone number or provision a DID.

You can then also create an IVR. If you want i made a document on installing trixbox if your interested. Keep in mind i live in North america so if your in europe you may need to make some changes.

A PBX still uses your phone linefor landline calls. Surely Skype with SjypeOut or whatever it's called qould be cheaper/easier for what you want?

No. But a PBX wouldn't magically let you do this either. A PBX is just phone switching done by a computer - the call would still be put down you landline, so you'd still have to pay BT or whoever.

Or your use a PBX to turn your regular phones into VoIP "heatsets" are route the call through Skype or whoever, which is uaually cheaper than BT (etc.).

the only way to cal soemone for free wolc be to call another voip end point. if you want to do anything on the hardlines / land lines then you have to pay. but as stated above it is much cheaper.
