My parents borrowed my digicam and the taxi driver nicked it as he helped them out the cab. He claimed not to have it until he finally came round with it after we phoned the company a few times saying we'd let it all drop if we had it back, nothing until a day later, when it comes back formatted, one picture of his lviing room, and the lens extended as the battery had run so dead it couldn't close it again. The arkward power cable of justice strikes again.

    There's some ****ers out there.

My guess would be it'd have been flogged before the battery could even run out :sigh:

Yup, sold onto the local fence for a few quid which they then spend on beer, fags and drugs :sigh:. I would like to call the thieves some adults words now, but since this is a family forum... Goddam Muddy Funsters.

If you actualy have a laptop that is worth the price, they have chains like on bikes that you can connect to the desk and require a key to get undone.

Just leave a dictionary on top of valuable things.... that'll fox 'em...

Anyway... at least your house insurance should cover it or something..

He might have a problem because the windows were open, insurance companies can be really fussy.

When we were burgled, they nearly refused our claim because not all of our windows have locks built in (apparently it's now a requirement, not an 'extra feature'). Much arguing later, our claim was approved.

Im gonna get some steel cable and chain my TFT and lappy to the shelf which is bolted to the wall. My YY cube is >30kg so they aint taking that anytime soon.

And i'm pretty sure he had the password on boot on aswell...

His computer was a Dell , PIV, can't remember how much ghz etc... but I think its safe to say that it was pretty powerfull. it was Dell Inspiron, If i remember correctly a 5100 series. bought last year in september. so pretty recent hardware

im no thief but whoever stole the laptop would have sold it to their drug dealer for about £20 worth of drugs (whatever the specs!!!! ) - and he will sell it on for a deal more. it amazes what people will do for their drugs :sigh:
all thieves have sum1 to sell stuff too no matter what the item is

The thought did cross my mind but then I realised we were along a main road with nowhere to hide after we run, so they would have simply driven after us! And I don't think they would have taken kindly to being told to **** off!

Crime in the UK has skyrocketed since the mid-90s or so, and I can sorta see a few reasons why, but the main one you might not like me for pointing-out: guns.

In about 40-odd of the US states, there are special types of lisences called CCWs, meaning that you are allowed to carry a concealed pistol to defend yourself or any innocent against theft, attack etc. This might sound a little Draconian and even stupid to you, but it makes more sense the more you think about it.

The rules on who can have a CCW and who can't are quite strict. No-one with a crimal record, for instance, or anyone with a mental disorder etc. It doesn't mean that you can just pop anyone that you feel like either. Plus, you have to have special professional training, to make sure you are not a liability. Crime in states with CCWs is now very low, since a criminal doesn't know if you are carrying or not, as the weapon must be concealed.

And suddenly I have the feeling that I will be attacked for any of the following:
    a) Glamourising the killing of others
    b) Thinking that guns make people safe by carying them (they don't, they just level the playing field)
    c) Being evil (well, there are always a few whackjobs on any forum...)

Living in a London suburb as I do, I have a few crime stories of my own. House next door was burgled a couple years ago, in the wee small hours. Danged blasted Wagners ( ;) ) removed the beading from the double-glazing, took out the glass, climbed in, emptied a wallet of cash, left the wallet where it was to lengthen time before discovery and then reassembled the fudging window! :eeek:

Guns are bad for some reasons and could lead to a lot more problem when they start being easily available on the black market (if they are not already) as they will be if such as thing was allowed.

But personally I think that if someone was to attach me on the street or in my home, then they deserve the worst possible. Their life should be utterly destroyed with no chance of a come back. Shoot them, hang them, electrocute them, I don't care. When they break and enter into my home, then they are not respecting me as a human being and I don't see why I should respect them or pay for their upkeep in prison. Get rid of them and be done with it. Don't give me an argument about putting a price on a human life. It's worthless once they go down the criminal route. All they will do is come out of prison and then go back to it. Don't tell me they might be forced to such levels by society or other crap like that either. Thats what social support or whatever its called around here is there for.

Might sound cruel and heartless and I will undoubtedly get flamed by this. But this is my opinion and I don't see it changing any time soon.

    I totally agree...

Three houses across the road got broken into on the SAME NIGHT! about 2 months ago :eeek: as the houses back onto a funeral parlour, an they have a car park there, and they broke into their sheds, stole all there bikes "about 7 or 8" flung them over the wall into the car park and left, my nextdoor neighbour,s been broken into countless times but so far we`ve never been broken into but if anyone did they would hit gold in my room as ive got at LEAST 4k worth of electronics in TV,s pc,s hifi,s consoles and i keep all my games on my fireplace which must be worth a crap load aswell and me being me, dont exactly keep the fact of all my stuff a secret to my mates but we do have 3 gaurddogs *yorkshire terriers* (i know what your thinking, and yes.. they would kick your ass--or at least your ankle)

I don't disagree with your opinion really but I'm afraid that a jury would have to. In almost all circumstances killing will get you a far greater sentance than stealing.
