I like having pwetty lights on the front of my Lian-Li, but being a second-revision PC60 there's a slight problem with the front intake fans; not only does the bezel block the light, so does the fan filter and the filter holder, making the overall light from my Coolermaster LED fans very dim. My question - have other people found a way around this problem, and would cold cathode fans be considerably brighter? Thanks
Just put some led fans in. Most of the places that carry the led fans carry the same brand. Theres only a few companies that make led fans. You would also solve the problem for more money with a cc fan. EDIT: I have found great prices on LED fans at www.nexfan.com
I said I have a couple of Coolermaster LED fans in there, the problem is that you can barely see them, the small holes in the bezel and the small holes in the fan filter holder tend to cause a lot of interference. Have been thinking of taking a dremel to the filter holder, so that it holds the filter in and no more...
If they're not bright enough, just add some extra LED's round the edge. Then you can use whatever brightness LED's you wish.
You do realize that that filter that comes with the lian-lis dosnt do anything. Its a joke. Anyhow, sorry I cant read. I think your led fans prolly just suck. Two blue quad led fans from www.nexfan.com are pretty darn bright and I can almost guarantee your gonna be able to see that nice and bright through the bezel.
Coolermaster fans are fscking bright. Im sure thats not his problem. And the filter in my rev. 2 case actually does some good with dust: And now that i did that, i have little chunks of dust from the filter flying around inside my case I should prob go clean that thing out.
Re: Re: What are the brightest LED/CC fans? LOL, yes my filter looked somewhat similar when I pulled it out this afternoon...can you see my point about the light being blocked? Another point is that I think the white fans are dimmer than the other colours, and that they made the LEDs brighter on their fans just after I got them. Oh well
OMG!...what the heck man..did you drywall that room with the computer on. That looks like plaster dust..lol. I guess I stand corrected on the fan filter thing. Ive had my filter in forever and its as clean as it was on day one. I guess it depends on how much dust you got in the atmosphere. BUT DANG thats a lot of dust.
lol, thats what i've been wondering, this house puts out an insane ammount of dust. i also leave it on 24/7, but its still a heck of alot. and thats only after 1 month or so. Edit: the flash of my cam adds some brightness to it, but the ammount is the same
Is there enough room to snap on those 80mm snap on fan filters. If you could fit them behind the fans that would work. Only thing is because they are snap on, they are a little bigger than the fan itself and if the fans are too close together, they will not fit.
Moving the filter assembly behind would mean moving the fans outside the case, between the case and the bezel. Not too sure about doing this, don't think they'll fit. I've ordered a couple of these - not snap-on, and they look like they should fit.
you dont have to move the fans frontwards if you put hte filter behind the fans: With out filter With filter, its being blown back since i dont have it secured. You could move it back, and attach it somehow. Im sure that wouldn't be that hard to do.. And i cleaned the filter : edit: sorry about hte blinding flash! oh yeah: 500TH POST!!!! W007 W007!!
What I did to brighten up my fans was something I saw someone here do....please forgive me for not remembering who did it. I have looked at so many logs and cases til they are all a blur. At any rate I used the mesh fan filter/grills like the ones found at SVC.com. I figure they probably don't trap as much dust as the original filter, but they let the light shine through unobstructed and don't cause nearly the amount of turbulence (and thus noise). As Green Soda said, you should have plenty of room to put filters on the back side should you choose that route. I've the snap on kind....they're okay I guess. Another thought I had pondered, was using modders mesh to construct a new filter holder. That way I could still use the filter and let more light through at the same time.
1. Pull off front of case 2. Pull off entire plastic filer enclosure 3. mount fans on front of internal chassis 4. 7v fan and wire leds seperately. 5. Profit
Deviate - Yeah, those in the link are what I'm getting today or tomorrow in an order, hopefully they'll let a lot of light through and just diffuse the light a little Phire - Does that actually look good? Will have to try it, it should just fit Green Soda - That's what I've done at the moment, and I've secured the filter in place by moving my hd's forward a bit EDIT - Woo! All my l33t shiznat is here now, thanks to Kustom and their amazing delivery...I'll be back in a few days
I know this is a bit late, but if you want *insane* lighting with leds, you could mount up a couple of Luxeon Star leds. I don't know what color you are going for, but the Luxeon Star gets as bright as 160.000 lumen. Thats like, almost 50 powerful 8.000 mcd leds. Btw, do not stare at this led. It WILL hurt your cornea
