So, I've read that nobody will notice the differences if he isn't pointed to them. Is that true? Is the Ultimate version not worth 2x times the money?

My question is NOT this: "Should I buy Home Premuim or Ultim8?"

THIS is my question: "What are the differences?"

    :D

You get animated desktops on Ultimate.

And er.. a couple of extra games.

And Bitlocker, hard drive data protection software.

I think that's it. So, not much tbh :)

The "Ultimate Extras", which I'm actually using, and that's all I can think of, but you do get some neat stuff, and they add to them periodically. Apparently it's part of giving you an incentive to pay that price, they're periodically adding new extras.

ability to connect to the computer via remote desktop.
You can still remote in to another computer from premium though, and there are plenty of 3rd party programs to do the same

So there are not very much differences then...

But what about the animated desktops? Sounds pretty cool. I'd like to read/hear some more about that.

It is a program called "Dream Scene" which is a Vista Ultimate 'extra' and its annoying, moving backgrounds are just wrong!

Also other differences between versions may be noted here and also below...
