A very generous glass of Haig's Dimple.

It's been that kind of a day.

I'm having another nip of this tonight, very smooth, but if you came for a run finish you might be disappointed, it's subtle?

At the moment I'm buying in books and bottles far faster than I can consume them, I'm time poor (have you seen my two children?) :o:

I picked up a bottle after his post.
I used to drink Jura regularly before switching to bourbon, and yes the rum finish is mostly undetectable to my simple palate

I've still a half bottle of that Makers Mark 46 you recommend, I've been keeping it in the bottom drawer of my desk with a couple of cut glasses.

Yeh, it's not that rummy. However, it really comes alive with a mixer. Supermalt ginger beer is especially good.

Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva 'sipping rum'... They're not wrong btw. It's totally slurpable straight from the neck! If you want to have a Jack Sparrow moment, I can recommend this wholeheartedly.

Last night, Dark n Stormy's with Goslings rum, of course, and Fentimans ginger beer.
Not a fan, shall stick to good old Kraken & Pepsi Max going forward

I'm not a big rum drinker, but a Kraken and cherry pepsi max does go down well.

    I love rum!

Never understood the whole kraken thing, it tastes really artificial to me?

I always thought that if you wanted a sweet cheap supermarket rum then oakheart is actually pretty good?

Whereas I’m quite seasoned in whisky, bourbon and rye, I’m quite a novice at rum so I occasionally visit our local rum bar and try a few recommendations. I’ve ended up picking up a few of them from Waitrose during grocery shops. Never disappointed!

Horses for courses, I'll give oakheart a go if it's on the shelf when I run out of the 3 bottles of rum I've got, but for my palate I don't think rum is ever going to be a daily tiple

    Hello

I'm just imagining what a rum bar looks like, presumably it has a table of British sailors, a fella smoking a fat Cuban cigar, one lad with a tricorn and an eye patch, and one guy with a particularly long beard :hehe:

Wine and gin downstairs, rum upstairs! Very classy and only a handful of pirates!
