Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - Apple TV

Switching through the entire history of Kaiju movies from the 1950's to 2016, covering the origins of the Monarch organisation - the "MiB" of the Legendary Pictures "Monsterverse".

WARNING -Turn subtitles on, as much of the first two episodes are set in Tokyo, and the cast speak Japanese.

 

Squid Game The Challenge

 

Same.

If I can ignore the constant overreacting Americans it's not bad.

E: Ignoring takes a lot of will power at times, my god they can be loud and unstable

 

Star Trek Next Generation, currently finishing season 3

 

Just finished Lazarus Project s2 (Sky). Did get a bit confusing toward the end trying to keep track of who was who and how they got where they did, but it's one of the more original things I've watched in a long time. Solid 8/10.

 

Going to sign up for an Apple TV trial, so looking for suggestions. So far I have:

Slow Horses
Silo
Something with Her Royal Highness Rebecca Ferguson (Continuum?)
Some space thing with the guy that looks like James Nesbitt (unless that's also Continuum)

What else is worth the time investment?

 

• For All Mankind - An alternate timeline where Russia beat USA to the moon by 3 weeks. Now in season 4 (on Mars)
• Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - Origin story for the Monarch Group, the "MiB" of the Godzilla/Kong Monsterverse (only 4 episodes so far)

Note that both shows have long scenes in Russian & Japanese respectively, without "baked in" subtitles, so you'll need to turn them on.

 

@ModSquid , look for some free trials. There's usually 3 month ones kicking about.

E: To add to other suggestions, Foundation. Two series so far, outstanding but then I have read the books.

Rebecca Ferguson l's is Silo. Not got round to that yet.

 

Cheers Ian - have been trawling through and grabbed both of these as well. Only issue I'm finding is my Up Next list doesn't seem to hold everything I'm adding - as things get added, stuff seems to drop off. Is this right?

Squid Game

Yeah, I know, late to the party, but I wanted to wait until all the hype had died down. One episode in - I can see why people were excited.

Just started episode 2 - feel sorry for that guy still alive at the start...

 

Wait till you see the actual game show they're doing as a spinoff.

 

As long as they actually shoot them, I'm fine with that.

 

Ooh, we can have a celebrity edition - it'd be the only time I'd vote for Nigel Farage.

Turns out Ant & Dec have decided that Farage is the proverbial last straw, politically speaking.

I saw that yesterday, ITV won't want to piss-off their top presenters so, will probably not take politicians next year. I couldn't care less, never have and, never will watch the has-beens and publicity seekers.
